There’s nothing wrong with punishment either. For example a punishment might be to take the phone for 1 day, for swearing at the parents. The mother thinks punishment is belittling. It isn’t, unless you choose belittling punishments like scrubbing a floor with a toothbrush.

Exactly! Without boundaries and consequences, children do feel as though their parents don't care about them or what they do. Through their behavior, all e of those girls were screaming for boundaries. They were out of control and they were scared of their lack of self control. Self control is a taught and learn skill. I don't know how they acted around other people, but it appeared they had no social skills either. They were just 3 wild almost ferel girls that lacked in every area needed in life to succeed and to be a contributing member of society. I'm so glad the parents called on Jo Frost because this family was a total mess. I just don't understand how or why they waited so long. The girls were half grown.

The mom is a prime example of what happens when you only focus on the "light work" - toxic positivity. There is nothing wrong with ushering in the light and acting out of love but source is dualistic and both negative and positive experiences lead to evolution/ascension. "Consequences" would be learning from a negative experience. The shadow self must be brought into view and addressed, and these girls are acting from their shadow side because they have trauma that needs to be addressed. A gentle approach will not work.. They need to uproot all that has wounded and hurt and that doesn't look like lollipops and rainbows.

Why are so many Supernanny moms okay with husbands working away from home and leaving the children to be raised by mothers? That's bs! Mommy is missing the most crucial thing here, and that is that all actions have consequences., good or bad. Her job is to guude them towards the better choices and support them when they make mistakes, so that when they grow up, they will know how to make good choices and cope with the consequences of bad ones. These kids are just brats here, acting like toddlers. And they will have a very hard life if they don't shape up.

As a kid I never had consequences because my parents recognized that I was genuinely sorry, felt ashamed, and adjusted my behavior accordingly when told off. My brother on the other hand would blatantly ignore my parents and therefore needed those punishments in order to learn. So some kids can self-regulate but its on a case-by-case basis. For these girls with behavioral issues, they need consequences 100% - you’re completely screwed otherwise :p

Mom is too deep into the “woo” stuff (“spiritual psychology”), when mainstream psychology is clear that “authoritative parenting,” or parenting with boundaries and consequences but also with love, is the best form of parenting. Mom really needs to read up on the 4 main models of parenting because she falls into the “permissive parenting” category, which is not ideal.

Is the mother even thinking about what happens when these girls grow up, go into the world, have no inner discipline, no respect, and consequently will not fare well as adults. Doesn't she want to teach them that in the real world, there ARE rules for behavior, and consequences when the rules are ignored. So isn't it better to have the consequences when you're still at home. even tho 11 and 14 is rather late to learn how to behave properly, it's better than no training at all. In answer to the mother's concerns about consequences, DISCIPLINE IS LOVE!! and lack thereof is lack of love

Now a days, it feels like some parents just want to play the good guy, shower kids with material goods and behave like friends to their children. Teach them manners, respect, especially for your elders, kindness, how to speak properly, good behaviour, consequences for bad behaviour etc. They will rule the next and then the older generation. YEARS AGO there was a generation that did just that, no books, no internet, nor spiritual psychology 😊. These two people seem like decent people. Just use use basic sense and basic values no mumbo dumbo. Thank goodness for Jo Frost. That beacon in the fog❤❤❤
