Hi mate. Cracking video. I'm a sapphire cosworth owner also and just rebuilt my 2wd engine. Check the height of the head it should be 138.81mm and you are only suppose to take skim .13mm off according to Ford. Good luck.

Cossie engines suffer from bore wear due to the injectors overfueling 2wd engine as u say suffer from piston slap

@@alstair_harte Yeo seen it but that’s done now, should change the title as it’s not about the stolen one anymore👍 I restored a 2wd cossie in my front garden years ago, never again. Are you in the RSOC Ireland ? I’m still in the club even though my cossies are long gone 😭😭I’m an Evo owner now but would love to get back into an RS. Support from Dublin 🇮🇪🇮🇪

No offence intended, this is just from my many years experience with them and for you viewers information also ok. Yourself or anyone will be wasting your time putting the head straight back on that block as is, without first rebuilding the bottom end. Even on std power, the block will need a build after 50k, yes you can push them to 100k std power but they will be very sloppy inside at that point, and you are risking major failure. I always said to people, if the head needs off at any stage above 50k, then so does the block need rebuild. That block will need new 4x4 pistons, rebore due to ovanity, machine deck, machine piston crown if required and or fit thicker multilaire steel head gasket as required (do not fit a steel gasket without a block resurface). new bearing, new hp oil pump, twin lip high speed oil seals all over (no longer available from ford, and burton only had the cheaper ones on my last inquiry) new oil pump drive, possibly jack shaft bearing, all gaskets etc. Ps the head will need 16 new twin chamber hydraulic tappets, do not fit the single chamber vw tappets as they only last around 15k, head will also need value guides, I'd be surprised if head didn't need some welding also. 9 out of 10 Cossies were stolen at one time. So actually obtaining one that hasn't got previous is rare. Most were either stolen or pranged . I had a 500 big fin was a ringer and a Sapphire that was ringed at the same time.. Still got a RS Turbo been sat for 20 yr with no floor numbers I'll probably do her up one day after I have got through the list of Tina's 😅😅

Yes very few that manged to escape without getting robbed or 3 cars ending up in one 😂

@@alstair_harte Aye.. The door locks on older Ford's opened with any well worn Ford key an the Ignition was just as bad. You could take the black box off behind the column shroud and start them with a screwdriver... 😂😂😂 There wasn't even any need to damage the ignition just put the key in to make it look real.. I'm sure them YB engine's were a slightly modified 2.0 pinto in the early ones.. They were as strong as F**k. I have a 2.0 pinto with a twin cam head on in my Tina...
