@@the_phoenixproject oh amazing, it's doable for sure it's just hard work, prepare for stressful situations - we'll never forget the experience, but I'm not sure we'll be doing it to that extent again. The hardest part by far was lugging all of our stuff with us instead of paying to get it sent over 🤣 - that being said, it was the right decision for us financially to bring the most valuable possessions and start again.

You got a fair amount of land there. Be aware that the key to its succesful use is water, lots of water and it does not regularly fall from the skies as in England. English and Northwestern European gardening does not work here. Make friends wirh the neighbours and see what they do with their gardens. Plant fruit trees, you need shade. Good luck, never give up and you'll make it go!

I’m a bit late to the game, but welcome to Bulgaria nonetheless! :) A tip for any future situations/anyone who might need it - a quick and easy way to get warm water under such conditions it to buy a few beer bottles (the big plastic brown ones), fill them with water and leave them in the sun throughout the day. The water gets really warm and you only need 3-4 bottles to get clean. It’s not the peak of luxury, but I would have killed to feel clean after a day like this! Good luck! :)

The Bulgarian people look after their elderly extremely well,at home. They don't drop them off at the care home when things get difficult. But it seems that once they're gone there's little point keeping possessions. Most houses sold have a lot of stuff left behind. It's just a different culture.

Hi guys, happy for you and your children. Bulgaria was and going to be very rich in the future. Yet I suggest that you completely redo from a scratch the electrical installation with three wires where the third one is for the earth with the proper switchboard with the leakage current protection. Typically in the past the electric installation was neglected by the authorities who never cared 😮. After that you should redo water and sewage installation as they were using lead pipes or even iron pipes. All the best!

Hello Simeon! Thanks for watching our channel. You are 100% right, and we have already begun this process! Hia, not sure if I left you a message before, but dead chuffed and happy for you and your family Mate, although am wondering how does a young family sustain and finance itself in BG. I know the feeling about seeing the personal effects that gets left behind in the houses. They just seem to leave everything behind for the eventual new owners/occupiers . Am still searching for a place to buy in BG but wanted at least an acre of land with BIG barns and detached with a river or stream. Will go back and look at your first videos to see the location, size and hopefully cost of your land. Love the music in the video and admire your bravery moving to Bg with a family. Good Luck and wish you all the best mate.

Hi again Mark, so hopefully to break everything down for you. we paid £7500 for everything. It'll cost you more on tax and solicitors a little further down the line. I'd probably say more like £9000 in the end. I believe i mentioned we have 3 buildings, one 5 room house, a 3 room annex, a garage and a 32 sqm barn. We have 2 acres of land, beautiful views and a river (that's not ours but it kind of is as it backs onto the heath behind us, its really quite beautiful. For money, were still figuring it all out, we try to raise a bit through various avenues. I own a clinic in England for deep tissue massage which is still functional, it brings in some money but at the moment, not huge amounts, I also massage here in Bulgaria, trying to rebuild from the ground up which is going well, and I also will do some labouring jobs here or their. We love that they leave their belongings here, its great! Although its pretty sad that its over now, maybe we'll just buy places to find treasure haha!

@@frombournemouthtobulgaria WOW @ 2 acres and a river to back of land 😍, especially for £7,500. Am jealous 😂, wish I knew of another place like that. Cheapest washing machine in the world. Did this next door in Greece. Get yourself a large plastic olive barrel with a screw on lid. Cut a hole in the top centre of the lid about 2" diameter. Get a wooden stick rubber toilet plunger. Cut small slits / small holes in the rubber of the plunger. Fill the tub with water, chuck your clothes in, add washing powder and then push the toilet plunger handle up through the hole in the lid and screw the lid down tight. Then vigorously plunge that toilet plunger up and down. The water will squirt up through the holes you cut in the rubber causing agitation. This will quickly clean your clothes off-grid anywhere and will only cost you about 20 euros all told. Cheapest shower in the world is a solar shower using using two black plastic buckets. Drill about 20 very narrow small holes through the bottom of one bucket. Place that bucket inside the other untouched bucket. Fill with water. Screw the black plastic lid on. Tie some rope around the handle of the bottom bucket and oink it up to a tree branch and leave to heat up in the sun. When the water is hot remove the lower bucket and you'll have a decent hot shower for 5 minutes.
