Great suggestion. I have some of those boot covers on the way. Thanks!

I could not find where you said what brand headers are? They look real nicely made, and I want to replace with same style. Did they bolt up to cats flange OK? I will watch on later videos as well

I love the build man. Did you paint the accessories bracket or have it powder coated. I’m about to pull my LC9 5.3 and go thru it

Thanks so much for the kind comments! I painted the bracket Chevy Orange-Red engine paint. The nice thing about rebuilding the LC9 on our own is the ability to eliminate all of the design problems that were inherent in the stock LC9 engine.

Great videos! How will this engine pass smog test if it’s performance modified? Are you going to put a billet aluminum torque converter and beef up the transmission to handle the extra power? It’s a 4x4?

My plan to pass emissions test is the fact that I'm keeping all of the stock emission-related sensors, I'm keeping the cat converters, etc. The emission test here in my state is not the kind of test where they stick a sensor in the tail pipe. Rather, it's a computer hooked up to the OBD-II port and it reads all of the sensors, so I'm pretty sure that I can work with the tune shop to make sure that everything will pass state inspection. My new torque converter will be stock, and I'm planning to use the existing transmission as-is until it fails, then I'll upgrade both.

5.3 Performance Optimization Here in California I was told by a local mechanic shop, that the Smog test computer will know if the ECM had ever been hacked into. He went on to say the only way around it is to use a plug in and removable dongle. Like a Range Technology dongle people use to bypass the V4 mode on DOD equipped vehicles. I hope you’re right, I plan on registering my Suburban in Northern Nevada when I move to my other property and eventually stick a Chevy Performance combo crate/transmission in.
