Nice tutorial Jeff! Another option to get a tach in there is to install a Minitach from Retrogauge, where the clock is in the middle of the instrument-panel. My 68 didn't come with the clock, and so I went with an 8000 RPM setup. Works like a charm and looks like it has always been there :) As always - It's been a pleasure following your show!

@roargl The Retrogauge tach is a nice option and we have one here. The only problem is our eyes. The size of the tach (the size of the optional clock) has us wanting our reading glasses...But as a low cost option the Retrogauge is hard to beat.

@vcval We'd love to get into some Chrysler esoterica. Oddly Mopars are hard to come by where we are based. Even Allan Shepley, our guru over in Georgia has had almost zero Chrysler products through the doors at Mustang Central. But we'll keep looking for that Dart Vcval!

@vcval True, but that does not give you the coke bottle green color that the Mustang had. We plan on touching on that very subject in a video coming soon.

@raaaaaa We have a '65 Mustang Hardtop in the Que raaaa. Most of what we'll be doing to the little hardtop will cover you, including some neat stuff by Classic Instruments, Ididit and very soon a suspension upgrade tutorial on how to install NPDs Negative Camber Wedge kit.

What if on the 67 cluster you want to remove the clock and add the 68 round oil gauge in place of the clock…do you use the wires that where placed for the oil light on the new oil gauge…yes there will be some re-engineering to get the gauge to work and insulate the gauge so it doesn’t touch the housing..

Pretty sure there's a way to do it. I've actually seen it done a couple of times and yes you just use the wires for the oil light. Obviously the sender will have to be changed out as well.

on eBay you can get blue led bulbs there brighter then the original and smaller and you can do away with the blue filters :)

I use the bright white with the filters. The retain somewhat the look of the original lighting but they are bright enough to make the instruments more visable. By the way, the filters let off more of a green lighting as they would have.

Like the tach. I'm replacing the the wiring in my 68 would the tach work with the new harness?

Yep. The beauty is that it is not wired in series like an original. Works just like a modern over the counter tach!

Nice kit they sell but at 600 bucks I'd rather convert a whole cluster to Dakota digital or auto meter

+Toytuner Well this is for guys that want a stock looking dash. The tach is cheaper than a full, factory tach dash. We actually really like the stuff from Classic Instruments too, check them out here: www.classicinstruments.com/

In ALL of your videos, your attempts at humor fall flat. They are interesting enough without the wasted attempts at humor.

Well, maybe you'll be able to afford a real car instead of an ugly Chrysler product someday. Dart.. That's hysterical. Why not a Yugo?
