The subject of racism hits home. I am a breadwinner at home, i just left a job last week just before Good Friday because of the treatment i was getting for being black. I honestly have zero tolerance for racism. I cannot stand being treated like rubbish just because of the colour of my skin. I was like keep your millions that those black people that you keep on oppressing and swearing made for you. It is sad honestly. I am not a respecter of colour or money, i am a respecter of humanity. No colour is superior to the other, after all we are all human, the only difference is the colour of our skin. I don't hate any colour i just hate rubbish treatment to people just bacause they are a different colour to yours. Thats rubbish. Black does not mean stupid, it doesn't even mean poor or desperate. If they see us that way then Vata xikuma lexi va xilavaku one day nasi🤞

Wow you're a breadwinner and you left a job in this economy, were almost half of 62 million of people are unemployed. Personally I would say you're selfish and there are other ways to solve that situation, rather than starving your family just because of a rash decision you took. I hope you had a job waiting for you before you left your job, If not I'm sorry to say but you will regret the way you handled the situation.

I have a Diploma in Computer Networking and it's only after studying that I realise that industry certifications are the most important thing to have to get you in the industry of IT in general. But I do see what advantage of having gone through varsity I have when it comes to studying these certifications and the discipline there of. So to some extent, there is an advantage even though I sometimes feel like I would have saved more time doing certifications from the jump, as opposed to going to varsity.

@@ThuthukaShandugoogle just hired a kid right from high school after he was rejected by top universities, that kid is doing engineering and math/ coding there, the kids in school are going to be less experienced than him when they finish, not to mention they’ll be riddled with debt 💸, most of them. People just need skills and practical application of whatever they are doing, not this whole 4 year degree thing, higher education knows this too, most things can be learned in a far shorter period of time but because they are a business, the keep them there longer and even add useless degrees that won’t get students jobs.

Or making medicine. He thinks modern medicine is the work of school drop outs? Who does he think is doing biomedical research to make chemotherapy drugs, or build X-ray machines, or synthesize chemical disinfection materials to prevent hospital infections, or conduct surgery on patients, or conduct lab diagnostics on people. Or also, modern travel. Who does he think is building cars, engineering roads and bridges, creating electrical dashboards for planes, engineering the aerodynamics of a plane, engineering the most efficient way of fuel consumption, building car engines etc. Or even something as simple as electricity and load shedding that we are always complaining about. People switch on a light in their house, but do they think about how that electricity was generated at a source, converted, stored, transported and distributed via the grid, stepped up and stepped down, before it safely got to their house? He thinks that information was learnt on a podcast surely? That was really obtuse of him to suggest education is useless.

The problem with education is people thinking it’s in an institution, there are some fields that need you to study there, actually, only STEM fields , (and a lot of them now only require you to get a certification proving you have the relevant skills, especially big tech jobs) , and Law, everything else, education is everywhere.

Some things are institutionalized because they need to be standardized. I do not want a doctor who learnt surgery “at a friends house” to EVER operate on me. There has to be regulation for the safety of people, for maintaining a standard, and ensuring every doctor is truly qualified to the right level before they operate on a human. Life is not a joke. The same for a pilot, I don’t want anyone flying a commercial plane who learnt flying as a hobby from their dad. They can fly themselves if they want, but if you’re carrying 400 people in the air plus cargo, I need to know you have a formal certificate from a certified institution before you get hired by Lufthansa or KLM. Just because upodcasting is unprofessional, doesn’t mean every aspect of life we just accept university drop outs. No, they must be certified.
@seektruth5750
@seektruth5750 8 ай бұрын
@@mysisterisafoodiedid you read what I said, I said STEM fields need school mostly, even though some now only require certification and not degrees because they value skills and you can learn those just by training and actually doing the word, not 4 years of theory and paper. Education is everywhere, and there are many stupid “educated” people out in the world. You’d call gender studies a real thing, useless degree among many others.
@mysisterisafoodie
@mysisterisafoodie 8 ай бұрын
@@seektruth5750no, not only stem studies need degrees. Perhaps the difference should be in distinguishing between research degrees, professional degrees and vocational degrees. Certifications are good for everyone. Even I would like to know that my mechanic went to some school if some sort. Not that the only option is I either have to take my car to BMW to get fixed, or chance it with the local guy, why isn’t there more respect for vocational education like get a certificate in fixing cars, so at least I know you’re not messing with my car and you know what you’re doing. Or the lady at the reception at the office. She doesn’t need a bachelors degree, but she can go to a vocational school to learn office management so she can be professional at what she does. It’s not just STEM that need education. Also a chef, a carpenter, a sales employee can all get vocational degrees. A manager, a teacher, or a comms worker can get a professional degree. And a researcher, a biologist, an avionics engineer can get research degrees. Not only people in STEM need standardized skills and education for them.

The salary issue is one of the most difficult systems you will ever touch on and that will never get fixed, employers are so arrogant they’d rather close shop than pay people fairly. If you remove the “confidentiality” nonsense then you get to fix the salaries issue, but that won’t happen obviously.

Some real chats there Sol. 💯 I used to love Mark Boucher for example. Played as a wicket keeper all of my schooling career because of him. I remember from the world cup we hosted, we would always make sure that we are present for all Proteas appearances in Potchefstroom only to later on find out that there might be a whole lot of racism we were unaware of in the team. When you drive for the first time your foot will always shake or vibrate on the clutch. The car will stall on that steep hill. This boy will be fine, it was nerves more than anything.
