Hello everyone. In today's Bible study we will take a look at three things that God did which reveals His true nature and His Son's identity.
First, we look at how the Lord views human efforts to enter heaven. We effectively know these efforts as works or behaviors. Now these behaviors can be religious or non-religious meaning moral but not necessary biblical in conscience to the person performing the acts.
What does that look like? It looks like someone not murdering, not because there is a commandment from God that commands humans not to do it but because they know instinctively that murder is wrong. God placed His moral laws (commandments) into the minds of every person whom He creates into this world.
How do we know that that is true? We know it by our consciences. Everyone knows it is wrong to eat human babies. Did we read about that in the Bible? Of course not because it is not in there. Yet we know without a shadow of doubt that it is wrong. Knowing right from wrong nor any form of obedience or disobedience have anything to do with the nor replace the New Birth.
Second, we take a look at the Lord's view of miracles such as signs and wonders and why those things can never lead someone to a true saving faith in Christ who happens to be God.
The Lord's disciples were with Him for almost three years. They witnessed more miracles, signs and wonders, than any humans that have ever or will ever live. They were eye witnesses to Him raising the dead, healing tens of thousands maybe even millions of all diseases, feeding the poor, loving the loveless, giving hope to the hopeless, forgiving the sinner of sins, commanding the elements, commanding the animals, and commanding men.
Yet, though they were eye witnesses to all these things that ONLY GOD CAN DO, they still did not believe Jesus was GOD. Wait! What? Yes, you read that correctly. The scriptures declare that Jesus's disciples after witnessing all those things, did not believe He was God.
Then who or what did they believe He was? They believed He was a Prophet. What? Yes, that's what I said too when I read it in Lukes gospel. WHAT!!!!
Friend, external experiences will never bring anyone to Christ! It will only make them religious and more desirous of more miracles, signs and wonders whether those are gifts of the Spirit, or resolutions to money, healings, family issues, or other problems. They will seek that and not Christ. These things have nothing to do with the New Birth.
Third, and lastly, we investigate from the scriptures from God's perspective on why He determined in His own wisdom that it would be necessary to become a Man. That is to partake within His own creation, in a body that has flesh, bones, and BLOOD.
The most important part of that equation is the BLOOD. That is what makes a human, human. No blood equals no life. Will you listen to the LORD God Himself explain this phenomenon.
Gen. 9:3-5 Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. I have given you all things, even as the green herbs. But you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood. Surely for YOUR LIFEBLOOD I will demand a reckoning; from the hand of every beast I will require it, and from the hand of man. From the hand of every man’s brother I will require the life of man.
Lev. 17-10-14 And whatever man of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who dwell among you, who eats any blood, I will set My face against that person who eats blood, and will cut him off from among his people. For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.’ Therefore I said to the children of Israel, ‘No one among you shall eat blood, nor shall any stranger who dwells among you eat blood.’
“Whatever man of the children of Israel, or of the strangers who dwell among you, who hunts and catches any animal or bird that may be eaten, he shall pour out its blood and cover it with dust; for it is the life of all flesh. Its blood sustains its life. Therefore I said to the children of Israel, ‘You shall not eat the blood of any flesh, for the life of all flesh is its blood. Whoever eats it shall be cut off.’
Now with that understanding, how do you read this verse:
Mark 10:45 "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His LIFE a ransom for many.”
Why Lord? Why did You become a Man?
Today's study is 1 hour and 7 minutes in duration. I have broken it into three segments. This is segment 2 of 3 titled Did the disciples always believe that Jesus was God in human flesh?
