I love the sweater you're wearing and i remember you working out up. Great tips, I'm going to attend my first fiber fest in about 3 weeks. Thanks for sharing the sheep with us, I'm such an animal lover. I Def need one of those lil wooden things for keeping your pattern place. That wood be so useful! What awesome customer service. I've seen the gingersnap yarn and they sound like an amazing company. That's so cool of them to just give you something to gift. I was going to do an advent this year from them but I didn't want an amigurumi kit. Last years was really pretty. My bf has Scottish background so he actual has his own family tartan. If I remember correctly it's teal and hot pink. Teal is my favorite color and pink is my least favorite except when mixed with teal lol. I knew the movie from the quote. What a fun idea and set.

I went to my first big yarn festival this year near me, it is called Twist Fibre Festival, it is in Quebec but very close to Ottawa. I follow a few of your "rules" but I should have brought cash because just at the end I went crazy and bought more that I wanted... but no worries, I know that I will use it. I have the goal to knit 12 pairs of socks this year and it is going very well, I have 2 on the go right now and made 8 so far. The movie Practical Magic is one of my favorite! the Maple Tartan color is so in theme at this time of the year when the beautiful maples are changing colors. I just love going for rides to look at them changing. Great episode! I hope it gets you a lot of new subscribers.

Good tips and report on the Fibre Festival. I attended two years ago. Good show then and I see they have expanded a fair bit since. For several reasons, the biggest one being that I had already blown my yarn budget for the year, I didn't attend this one. I don't need more bags but that doesn't mean I don't have a weakness for more. No tartan in my history. That is a gorgeous tartan bag that was passed on to you to share. You mentioning upcycle quilts makes me question whether that might not be a great idea for a hand embroidered wall hanging that is stuffed away. Hmm--the sewing machine may have to be dusted off.

@@mypinkbathtub There's no doubt that I could makeover a quilt into a project bag. I've been giving some of them a very critical eye. After our house fire I chopped away the damage from one. I am now seriously eyeing the re-made wall hanging as a project bag or perhaps a cross shoulder bag. I am enjoying opening the Advent notions calendar on a more drawn out schedule. I made up a yarn advent calendar but I am seriously considering opening it on a slow schedule from New Year's Day, well into the year.

What a cute sweater u made! I have never been to a fibre festival. But I would love to. Love the popcorn mystery bag. The tartan bag is cute though to bad it's not in purple. Although I saw the bags on the site and the purple is sold out. Love your vlogs and everything. Have a great day. 😊

The tartan bag is gorgeous! Such a great fall/winter project bag. I loved hearing about your fibre festival experience. Thanks for the tips. Using cash only is a great idea. I always overspend with cards. My husband and I vacationed in Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia in May of this year and of course, I visited all yarn shops I could find there. I absolutely loved Fleece and Harmony with Kim, Betsy and Simone in Belfast, PE. I believe there is a fiber festival in Charlottetown in October. I would love to go back!

Hi! It didn't click until I saw your Instagram post that you were at the same place as Sarah Schira (Imagined Landscapes). She was selling autographed copies of her book. How nice! Thank you for taking us along! I am a big fan of Outlander which of course is tartan central. I think I still have a little tartan skirt (um, kilt) I wore in my highschool choir. Very lovely sweater! I have not been to a fibre festival like that, maybe one day. . .

I also attended the Manitoba fibre festival this year and had a blast! The ginger snap booth was beautiful, but I have to admit the tartan bags are even more stunning in person than they are online! Did you get a chance to stop by the booth where there were two ladies demonstrating bobbin lace and tatting? It was the first time I’ve ever seen either demonstrated in person and it was fascinating. I’m glad to hear you had just as much fun at the festival as I did.

I am not sure I saw that. It's funny because I went around THREE times. Sometimes the booths were packed. Even with my tips, it still is overwhelming. Yes, Kim's bags are exceptionally well done.

I don’t know if our family has a tartan. I know that we do have Scottish ancestry but I haven’t gotten that far back yet to see. I have only been to one fiber festival and that was in 2013. They definitely can be overwhelming. If I were to go to one in the future, I’d do as you indicated and search/review the venue and vendors to choose who I would like to purchase from.
