Sol is right on the quality of education in South Africa, I passed Matric with a bachelor degree yet I'm struggling to get into University meaning I need to do a bridging course which means doing a course that's not my first, second or third option for the first semester just to get into University. It's really sad the way South African scholars are being treated. No matter how great your results you now need connections to get into University

It also helps to read books. I say this from lived experience. Basic sentence construction, punctuation, tense, etc. comprehension. We battle with some university graduates in the workplace who cannot even write a sensible paragraph of a report. At work there’s no time to train someone on basic sentence construction, work must be delivered, presentations must be made to executives. That pass mark needs to go back to 50% minimum, else this system is churning out a whole lot of unemployable graduates.
