Very informative video! This helps me immensely with my 944. Have air trapped in the cooling system. And it’s causing the coolant to bubble and shoot out the overflow tube.

Thanks for going through this so clearly! I've got a question for you: following this process when I turn the heater on in the car and I have the expansion tank cap off it's overflows hugely to the point where the coolant level drops way below minimum. It then settles there quite happily and if I fill more in it just spits it out again, at this point the heater blows cold until I put more coolant in.. Got any ideas what may be wrong?

I think you still have air in the system. Turning the heater up should close the thermostat and shutoff the coolant flow to the radiator. You should get heat but it shouldn't spill out. Air is taking up volume somewhere causing the extra spillage. What is your temperature gauge at during this? I would suspect it to be running high because the coolant isn't circulating everywhere to take the hear away from the block. It could also be your thermostat is stuck open because once the spillage occurs, the heater turns cold. Meaning the coolant is traveling to the radiator but not circulating properly to the heater core. Make sure you lift the car up, it helps move the air and get rid of the blockage.

@@fcimports9823 My temp gauge sits very happily at the usual temp, just above the second (of the four) marker lines. It stays there pretty steadily even when I'm driving around with low coolant since it spat out the rest... I wonder if you may be right about the thermostat staying open, how would I verify whether or not it's gone? If there is air in the system still should I try adding more coolant and running the engine again? It's also worth mentioning that my heater controller inside seems to be questionable, I wasn't getting any heat until I tied the vacuum valve open..

Nice job! Well done! Thanks! Curious, lift the front of the car how high? 6"? 12"?
