For any serious science enthusiasts/students, please take the science in this podcast with a grain of salt. This podcast is filled with misleading science and inconsistencies. For the sake of science, I had to comment on this video. I really admire the very thoughtful comments by some viewers. People have already pointed out many flaws in the paper as well as the podcast. Kudos to Arif for thinking about some of the most fundamental problems in physics. Arif, if you are really serious about physics, I highly recommend you take some serious physics and mathematics courses. If you want people to consider you seriously, please do not present some half-baked ideas sprinkled with some religious/spiritual BS. Science is a serious profession. Science has to be lucid, not vague. It has to be explanatory, predictive, and verifiable. Also, science can't be based on metaphors and speculations. Please leave BS science mixed with religious stuff to gurus. They are doing a good job of it already. If I go on to point out the flaws in the whole podcast then it will be a very long post. Anyway, let's jot down some general feedback: 1. String theory (ST) is not an alternative to GR. It's a mathematical way to explain quantum gravity. 2. Even though string theory is mostly a mathematical construct, it does predict things. LHC is trying to test predictions: tinyurl.com/2s374fnx 4. Black hole is a prediction of GR. In physics, there are many ways to observe things (it doesn't always have to be a picture). The first black hole was identified in 1971. 5. For a theory to be good, it has to explain the existing observations and make predictions. For instance, GR wasn't considered a serious theory until its prediction was verified in experiments /observations (tinyurl.com/cd33hjwp / en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tests_of_general_relativity) 6. GR is a solid theory (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tests_of_general_relativity). Any seasoned physicist wouldn't doubt it. It works at many different distance scales but it fails at the quantum scale. And, I think it's fine because GR is geometric theory and it's not easy to understand geometry at that quantum scale. For example, is spacetime discrete or continuous? At large scale spacetime is continuous and you can use differential geometry to study spacetime (which is what GR does). 7. The whole premise of why time cannot be a dimension just on the wrong assumption that we can't travel back in time is wrong. 8. This whole obsession with 4 and trying to connect that 4 to science is pure nonsense. Even trying to associate "high" and slowness after smoking weed with a higher dimension shows how immature this podcast is. This is called pseudo-science. 9. The explanation of matter-antimatter asymmetry problem is wrong. I am pretty sure anyone who has taken basic particle physics must have noticed the inconsistencies. Most of the time, when people cannot explain something they invoke god. A scientist would never do that. He/she would always accept that I do not understand it. This means I need to reinvestigate and try to come up with something better. 10. Nobel prize for the quantum hall effect wasn't given for proving the existence of the 4th dimension. It was given for discovering the exact quantization of hall resistance. 11. Bullet cluster provides evidence for the existence of dark matter(chandra.harvard.edu/graphics/resources/handouts/lithos/bullet_lithos.pdf) not for 4th dimension. We can have hours long discussion on dark matter and different theories around it but let's not go there. The kind of mathematics to do theoretical physics is different than the mathematics needed to do engineering. I am talking from experience here as I did a Ph.D. in physics and now I do research for living. For high school-level physics, we can use some algebra, calculus, and basic vector analysis. However, when we get to the kind of physics that he is trying to describe, the mathematics needed are differential geometry, tensor calculus, abstract algebra ( for exploring physics from the symmetry point of view), and much more. If anyone has taken a graduate-level General theory of relativity (which is at least a year-long course and even after that we can't claim an understanding of the theory) will agree that the first few months feel like an intro to differential geometry rather than physics. Here's a nice diagram of mathematics on which most of modern physics is built: imgur.com/a/v2w2czN . For now, I have to stop with this. Anyone, who wants to learn physics and needs guidance, please let me know. I have been at it for about 15 years and I still feel lost. All the best!

@@nirajrai9954 There are many ways to study nature. For a long time, humans have been trying to understand nature. We took different approaches to do so throughout time. Science is one of the ways to do so. Right now, modern science is one of the most rigorous ways to do so. We might discover something that someone in past has pointed out (or logically explained) and it's fine. This happens in science a lot. However, I do not agree that we are just rediscovering what someone pointed out philosophically in past. See, we are studying the same thing (i.e. nature). The means might be different (theory, experiment, or philosophy). If we do it honestly and rigorously, we find the truth (and there is one truth).

I request Aarif to go through the lectures of Prof.Susskind with focus on the concepts of invariants. What Arif and their preprint is talking about is the Einstein's Relativity. The fourth dimension time * speed of light = spatial dimension is how Prof. Susskind bases his entire lecture on. It doesn't matter, either you call all four dimension a spatial one or temporal one or spatio-temporal one.

From Hyperspace by Michio Kaku According to the Riemann, son of a Litheran Pastor, electricity, magnetism, and gravity are caused by the crumpling of our three-dimensional universe in the unseen fourth dimension. Force has no independent life of its own; it is only the apparent effect caused by distortions of geometry. Riemann died prematurely at the age of 39 before he could complete his geometric theory of gravity, electricity, and magnetism. I like how you expressed your hypothesis, and I hope it will become an established theory one day. Best wishes for your future, and stay safe.

@Timalsinaprithvi2 жыл бұрын
So, I went through their paper and my reaction was "wtf is this?" The paper that they published provides absolutely nothing new and even if it does its pure absurdity. They considered 4th spatial dimension and some weird postulates but the geometry of space in their paper remains exactly same as that of Minkowski space-time. The metric of 4 spatial dimensions has to be actually same as the Euclidean one (with signature (+,+,+,+) but the postulates they make brings it back to becoming the Minkowski metric. And since it follows the same metric, the 4d space has to balance itself in relation to the speed. For instance, the space should literally squeeze down to 1d for photons. And the mathematics they did, "due to proportionality" relating time and velocity makes absolutely no sense. You can't just write equations out of the blue that's not how physics work. I will get to the "Gravity in 4th spatial dimension" later. Edit: "Gravity in 4th spatial dimension" I would like to quote some sentences from the paper. "All the bodies in this universe volucelerate at a constant rate." "The curvature in space is formed due to the motion of the hyperbodies." If anyone analyze these two sentences they could find that the paper is inconsistent. Nevertheless, I will explain why this is the case. If everything in the universe volucerate at a constant rate and the curvature of space is due to the motion of hyperbodies in the 4th dimension then not everything would remain at a constant size. For instance, the speed of Earth is 30km/sec around the sun and that of sun around milky way is around 200km/s, meaning that they create different curvature (naturally) so, if the rate of voluceration is same then either the earth would have been collapsing into itself or the sun would have to be accelerating further apart or the other way around depending on the rate of voluceration(whatever that means). But, as far as I can tell, that is clearly not observed is nature. And you also do the time derivative of Volume, how does volume actually change over time? How does time come into play? Just because you call it "Voluceration" doesn't mean you just take derivative wrt time and see what follows. You see, everything has to be explained and analyzed to great detail before claiming such feat. Anyway, If anyone finds flaws in my reasoning feel free to comment and enlighten me. P.S. I am not trying to dismiss them in anyway. I really appreciate people questioning and trying to work on fundamental ideas but that doesn't mean we accept everything.
@nirwansaud56302 жыл бұрын
wow, someone who has some brains to figure it out. Other people in this comment section are just upright sheeps. Without understanding a shit, they just be "Proud of you" and shit. The theory with so much natural logic and reasoning that has be uphold for so many centuries can't be just dismissed by some 3 papers. So many more professional scientists might have done the research to dismiss it, but even so not been done so. I'm not demeaning this gentleman's work but just because you do some random bullshit doesn't mean you can go with the likes of Einstein.

Looked at the papers, some wild assumptions have been made without proper explanation like everyone travelling @speed of light in the fourth dimension. Some basic vector equations to support this without first trying to explain why this is the case. This assumption was probably made to make the math work (basic resultant vector calculations which would only work if assumed that we are travelling at c in 4th dimension while at rest in 3rd. Not all scientists agree that 4th dimension is a temporal one instead of a spatial one. If the math would work without these crazy assumptions, it would already have been out there. It would be an easy correction. Compare Newtonian physics with relativity, it's a huge leap with answers to million questions remained unanswered by Newtonian. Also. it's stupid to say if time was the 4th dimension, we should be able to move in both forward and backward in time. Imagine the same 2D triangle in your example as falling through multiple 2D planes in 3D, being a 2D object he has no control over the 3D environment. Similarly, we might be falling through different time planes in one direction which we can't control whatsoever. P.S.: Being a Mechanical Engineer, I believe engineers are good at applying physics not recreating it. Bro is walking on thin ice with this theory, which if correct for some wild reason is a minute correction to the existing one. Please don't refer to him as a physicist but as an engineer.

though I haven't listen to this podcast I have read his paper, - first of all his postulate has no theoretical or experimental evidence/support that the total velocity of 4-D hyperbody is always constant ,c. - if that's the case the total Energy of a body is always constant which further implies a body in a motion in 3-D has less rest-mass energy, which isn't not the result form special relativity. -second: it didn't explain constant speed of light for all frame of reference. -third: according to this I could have time dilation even I reduce 4_th spatial dimension i.e for constant motion in 3-D analogous to this hypothesis - last but not least: how could changing velocity in one particular dimension affect velocity in other dimension, if its true it violate conservation of linear momentum

45:40 The perception of viewing 3 dimensions in human beings is not exactly because of 2 eyes (Yes, I agree having two eyes makes one able to perceive depth more accurately) but don't forget the fact that you can have the perception of 3 dimensions by closing your one eye while opening the other. Actually we are seeing things in 2 dimensions, the reason we see things in 3 dimensions is due to the variance of light and shadows (Lighting plays an important role in our perception of 3 dimensional space) and the fact that an object closer to eye appears larger while an object farther appears smaller. Object that moves quickly through the field of view of our eye are perceived as being closer. (Same applies for one eyed man and even video cameras too). Individuals with one eye may have a reduced ability to estimate depth accurately, but come on man, they can perceive the 3 dimensional space too! The way you said having 3 eyes makes one able to see 4th dimension, that means a hypothetical machine with 3 cameras can see the 4th dimension wtf!, anyways loved your explanations ❤

They don't state it anywhere, but they effectively say between equations (2) and (3) that "let's assume everything moves at c in four dimensions always". It's an interesting suggestion, because you get this Lorentz factor out. But then they go on to say something like "by the postulate, the time is proportional to the speed in the fourth dimension" or something. They never introduced or justified a postulate as far as I can see. And also, if local time is the same as local 4th dimension speed, why not just use local time in the first place? It doesn't matter what you call it. In fact, I get the feeling that what they are trying to state with interpretation is well known, I think its equivalent to using the Minkowski metric. They say that they don't rely on a universal speed of light. But they have already said "everything moves at the speed of light through 4D". That seems pretty universal to me. In this second paper they talk about deriving GR from this postulate or something? But at the very most what they will be doing is rewriting GR in terms of their language/notation. There are already strong geometric interpretations of GR. It seems unlikely that this viewpoint will make some major breakthrough by renaming time. From the first paper, it seems like they are saying "if we call time a velocity, then we can derive everything in terms of velocity!". Well, yes. But nothing new has been gained. Certainly, they have not removed the universal speed of light. You can't use the unuversal speed of light to define this speed, and then claim it is not universal. It's circular logic. It looks like they've set up a system that they've not justified, done some simple vector calculation, and then made a claim about that vector calculation that is similarly unjustified. There is no Physics there. Always be cynical. Especially of big claims. If they are true, they will hold up to rigorous challenging. In general, big claims require big evidence, and at the very least, peer review in a good journal. Most people who make claims like this aren't interested in understanding why they have not passed peer review, they believe so strongly in what they've written, they won't take any criticism. Often they will try to promote their work through other, less rigorous means. And this ego trap seems easy to fall into, check out ViXrA if you want to see people who have not succeeded in breaking the mainstream with their "revolutionary theories". It's easy to spend your life reading and critically evaluating why these types of papers are not correct, but it is a waste of time normally. Often, these sorts of papers are "not even wrong", and there is not a lot to be gained by reading them. As you read more papers, or study more physics, you gain an intuition for how these papers feel. There are major and minor red flags, like making claims about other results that are not true, or incorrectly using standard jargon, obfuscating maths behind needlessly complicated notation, or a whole number of other things that makes it "feel" incorrect. There is a term for it that I can't remember, it's something to do with not being part of a shared sociolect,.that you would have naturally acquired through reading the necessary prerequisites to be an expert in the field. Just like a sommelier knows when someone is making stuff up by the language they use, so too do physicists know when someone's not read many papers or textbooks." - U/QuargRanger

It's dunning kruger effect the term you can't remember. This guy is pure joke to the scientific community or new generation of thinkers so to speak. The way he referred his theory as "Theory of everything" is just red flag. He is just trying to get some FAME for bullshit theories( it's not even a theory ). And also this guy doesn't understand causation and correlation. The weed correlation to 4th dimension was just...... i quit

maile padde but has many drawbacks - first of all his postulate has no theoretical or experimental evidence/support that the total velocity of 4-D hyperbody is always constant.

It needs to be noted that the paper is a preprint and hasn't yet been peer-reviewed. Would advise the author to publish this in a significant impact factor physics journal where the true cruxes of his postulated claims would find real ground/challenges/rebuttals amidst an international community of research scientists/reviewers. A pre-print no matter how many times read, or downloaded if not peer-reviewed holds low validation. It is a better way to make better science.

The funny thing about this podcast is the audacity of the guy and his confidence, and all of that on the basis of a PRE-PRINT. Which journal has he submitted to? What is the impact factor? Who reviews the paper? Where is the mathematical framework? Where is the experimental design to test whatever he claims? Why are there so many axioms (assumptions) in his claims? Why does it have to include scriptures? Bullshit at a whole new level.

absolutely true.. dragging scriptures into a scientific talk is still above my comprehension and I laugh a lot at such acts of foolishness. this shows he knows neither about the scriptures nor the very topic he is inquiring into..Scriptures are so simple texts telling u to look inside yourself, that's it.look into your ego self and work towards dissolving it. how simple.while science teaches u to look outside on the external world phenomena thats all..but here it seems his ego-self is taking him over. Heed my words, all his claims will be refuted..It was like two hours of bulshit, if u cant explain something in a simple convincing manner that means your undestanding on that topic is vague and obscure..

If anything moving at c in ordinary dimension moves at zero in fourth dimension, it automatically implies c is the max speed possible in ordinary dimension, and if so implies invariance of the speed of light in all ordinary reference frames. I read "Time Dilation in Fourth spatial dimension", it seemed nothing else than Einstein's formula reverse engineered to some fanciful axiomatic structure.

Okay, I know I'm going to receive a lot of negative feedback on this. I do not really care. I'm going to say this. A co-author who is an MBA and an engineering background guy (who also wants to be called a physics student as well) appear out of nowhere to propose the theory based on their assumptions and arrive at an irrational result. I saw someone post this on an online physics forum where members with physics degrees-not engineers or MBAs-had responded, demonstrating how inaccurate the entire paper was. Guys, stop being naiveee.. Come on NepaliPeople, just how st*pid are we. A physicist all his life, Einstein devoted himself to the field. I do not say Einstein will never be wrong. His theory might also come to an end eventualy but not like this. STOP GETTING D*MB PEOPLE INTO THE NEWS. I would rather be unemployed my entire life than spread falsehoods over the world. Beijat.

I completely agree with you man. We Nepali people have made a complete mockery of time, dedication and knowledge that requires to do discovery or invention such theories. I don't understand the obsession of Nepali people claiming things in the stupidest manner possible. There was a guy couple of years ago who was claiming to produce electricity from gravity. I don't know how does that even makes sense. Look at this guy spitting nonesense like I used to do during my plus days. He sounds like he watched few videos of Brian Green, Neil deGrasse tyson and Michio Kaku on GTR and String Theory. I believe he is delusional otherwise a well learned academic wouldn't have uttered such nonesene in the name of physics.
