The lyrics are describing the derive, a practice within psychogeography. You can learn how to do these practices if you want, the Situationist International and related groups have written some instructional materials. The basics are that you wander around the city, probably with friends, probably intoxicated, and use various techniques to disorient yourself and shake yourself out of habitual patterns (choosing which direction to go by flipping a coin for example) I mean the song describes it pretty well. Its a kind of intentional wandering, searching for the city hidden within the city, covered over by inertia and drudgery.
