Where do you think TV money comes from? It comes from millions of fans who pay to watch the games. If Celtic and Rangers were as big as their fans claim, they'd be able to attract a huge global audience and the SPL would be one of the big 4 leagues.....but it isn't because there isn't a global market for Celtic and Rangers. @@asensibleyoungman2978 No one is suggesting that Celtic or Rangers are big enough to attract enough interest that would be enough to make the SPFL one of the big four leagues....i mean seriously, you'd have to be a complete mentalist to think that is what is being suggested. Let's say for instance that Chelsea and Arsenal were the two big clubs in Scotland, the situation would be exactly the same for them, the TV deals would be small compared to the much bigger environment of the EPL Celtic and Rangers however are fantastic big clubs that have a massive expansion potential which is hindered by playing in a small domestic league....any with any sense can appreciate that. You however don't have any sense at all young man

Ages ago, in the last century even, i was paying Sky well over a ton a month and found out how little they were paying Celtic in comparison to England, yet what was then the Old Firm derby was still huge and we were struggling back then, so i protested by cancelling everything with them overnight and just went to the pub to watch Celtic instead then found Celtic TV. The English regularly confuse the size of their budget to the size of the club. If we are to agree with this logic then we have to accept that Newcastle are actually the biggest club in the world. This all started with the sky money which now has Russian and saudi cash topping it up. They also seem to think the team on the park determines the size of the club. Prime example of this being untrue is man utd. Poor team for last 10 or so years yet still massive historically and globally. The epl teams have more quality thats not debatable however, if we were in the epl we would have the same resources they do and therefore could reach another level. Right ok I’ll take the bait. Celtic are a big club, i get it, seriously i do, but to suggest Celtic would dominate the EPL is just laughable. Liverpool can’t dominate the EPL and they are a much bigger draw than Celtic can only ever dream about, and no I’m not a Liverpool fan, far from it. In cup football anything can happen, in a league like the EPL you’d lose more than you’d win, something Celtic i doubt have experienced in their history, by virtue of playing in a piss poor league. Scottish football and Celtic are a million miles behind most premier league clubs and some championship clubs in terms of revenue and player ability. Right now I doubt Celtic would get promoted from the championship. Celtic wouldn’t be guaranteed European football never mind champions league football. Within maybe 10 years you’d probably become a mainstay in the EPL, but actually winning it, good luck with that one.

Size of fan base is irrelevant. Do you think Spurs and United fans are looking down on Bournemouth right now? It’s all about quality of play, team management and results. It takes more than just money to achieve that. Sadly Celtic and Rangers are trapped in the uncompetitive backwaters of the SPL, unable to develop on a shoestring budget due to lack of external interest in the SPL. On the flip side, it’s the CL every season (briefly), constant domestic silverware and the ‘huge’ fan base we never hear the end of.

The amount teams who get relegated from epl is far higher. You forget about the parachute payment which equates to 55% of the basic minimum revenue each club gets in the epl. After googling the amounts, I found that at end of the 22/23 season, each relegated club would have received 55% of £88.6m which is roughly £48m.

I like the arrogant swagger of your take...however, Liverpool have a much larger global following than Celtic, that's just the reality. Their social media metrics back that up....24mill followers on X compared to us with just less than one mill. However, outside of Man Utd and Liverpool Celtic (And Rangers) are every bit as big and famous and the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs etc Those clubs are only considered 'bigger' at present due to the inflated media values that comes from being EPL clubs along with the riches in that league.
