I'm newly diagnosed with pretty bad arthritis in my lumbar & SI joint. My regular doc just told me take ibuprofen so I began researching to help myself. This is the most helpful video I have seen so far and gives me so much hope! I have been doing so many of these "wrong" things! The most helpful lifestyle change I have done is to stand more frequently during my seated job - using my standing desk for a few minutes every 20 mins or so while at work. Planning a binge watch of your playlist to learn more. Thank you!!

Again, Dr David - I have been doing most of these exercises for years - no wonder my back hasn't improved. I have started the lower abs with your device and the glute exercise and have found huge relief in a poor healing hip replacement and back area. I have just told 2 more people about your site - every one I know that has tried your exercises have gotten relief right away --- Thank You!

Dr. David, you are the first to clearly say what NOT to do (THANK YOU!). I also have a combination of issues, (mild back athritis, mild hip bursitis, mild labral tears on MRI, mild scoliosis, + osteopenia). I kept the back (and sleep!) issues at bay through regular Pilates for years but had to stop because of something in those sessions magnifying the HIP pain. Your videos were the first to help me figure that out. I am going to buy your back program today. However, do any of your exercise recommendations there or in your hip vido recs (I would buy this too if you had one!!!) controvert these multiple issues? @@epmanualphysicaltherapy

Suffering from bilateral knee arthritis I must agree with the rationale that renders most excises prescribed for knee arthritis not merely invalid but actually harmful. In the light of this realization, what is to be done. Each of your videos has about ten exercises and if a complete regime is to be followed, the entire useful time available to most working people would be insufficient for anything else.Rather than every video being a critique of traditional regimes, what would be most valuable and productive would be just one video detailing a complete daily regime for knee arthritis realizing that most people including sufferers, like myself, have to work for a living. So thank you for your most excellent videos and looking forward to the video to end all videos.

@@epmanualphysicaltherapy Thank you for reading my comment. With the enormous amount of quality information at your finger tips ,it would be the easiest for you to put together a single comprehensible system of exercises specifically for knee arthritis not requiring more than one half hour to complete each day. So what are you waiting for? A rather more elaborate treatment would be more than just welcomed, it would be an urgently required document of exercises devoid of any explanation of the rationale behind the exercise from which the sufferer could select those he or she preferred., but all equally effective. So get to it for God’s sake.

I have had pain and stiffness in my lower back for some weeks now. A diagnosis of arthritis was made some years prior to this, but these very bad symptoms have, for some reason, only surfaced in these last weeks. I have tried exercises and a wide variety of medications with either little or no significant results. It is ruining my life. It isn't the physical pain alone, I seem to be taking a nose-dive emotionally or psychologically. I am extremely reticent to submit to surgery or introduce a needle into my spine; frankly, it scares me a great deal. This awful situation had engendered a terrible ongoing feeling of hopelessness. I have actually thought about the window-exit from the crushing intractable depression. I am sure there exists some kind of relief, I just as of yet have not found it. If I could only maintain a superior attitude, I think that alone would go a long way.

Thanks for this information. I was diagnosed with lower back arthritis and stenosis. I got the epidural injection, but I just felt the pain off for 4 days, after that the pain back strongest, so they offered to me the lumbar medial branch block. I am a yoga teacher and I have been in pain for a year now, and the specialists never mentioned all these issues, except the physical therapist. I stop my personal practice because of the hyperextensions and others asanas that increase the pain and discomfort. Also, the medicaments are super strong, so I can't take them during the day , and they really calm the pain for a short time. Again, Thanks for your videos. Wishing to find a doctor here with this knowledge-based.

back surgery got a bad name because drs were doing surgery when they didn't really know what was causing the problem. They figured, I'll see it when I'm in there. My spine surgeon wasn't like that and only did surgery when he was sure he could help. I had a 3 level lumbar fusion L3-S1 because of sciatica. My lumbar spine was curved like a snake. It solved that problem. bur not 10 yrs later I have been dx'd with Ehers-Danlos hypermobility and genetic osteoarthritis. So My whole back is riddled with bone spurs and my C5-6 is causing pain in my hands. I've been exercising all my life but that hasn't staved it off. I don't know what to do.

Then WHATS the magic stick??,? You keep recommending strengthening the glutes !! Legs get very weak because you say no quads strengthening!!! Very confused!!!
@epmanualphysicaltherapy Жыл бұрын
Hey Sunshine, In regards to knee arthritis we recommend that the focus be on the glutes because the root problem is a muscle imbalance coming from the quads and hamstrings. Usually the quads and hamstrings are stronger compared to the glutes and this puts pressure on the knee which creates the pain and discomfort. It is important that all muscles are strong but if one is stronger than another it can create an issue. The root cause for lower back arthritis usually stems from weak lower abdominal and glute muscles so it is important to focus on those muscle to ease any pain.
