the keycaps have been what's keeping me away from the keyboard tbh, so that's nice that they're looking into alternatives

Man the shine on that lavender is S tier and I always love a good FR4 plate. Got to hand it to ya, you always got an eye for the good stuff Thocc!
@jprofessor3213 ай бұрын
The FR4 plate truly can bring out the clacky sound signature. I love the fact that this keyboard has a knob. I really do miss it having been using the Rainy75 (4 different HMX switches and the SPR67 (HMX Hyacinth V2u), which lack volume knobs :(
@thoccnology2 ай бұрын
Same here, same here.. :C (I'm so lazy that sometimes I end up not changing the volume just for a single track, so I end up listening to it in lower volume than optimal :')) (Constantly switching the keyboards for in-depth testing is making hard to remember all the key combinations for volume adjustment)
@jprofessor3212 ай бұрын
@@thoccnology I don't even think there is a volume combination for the SPR76. Let me check. Wow, thanks for reminding me, Thocc! It's FN + < or > for volume up or down! For the Rainy 75 it is FN + F11 or F12!

@@jprofessor321 Ah, yes, I remember now - oh, the confusion :')
@jprofessor3212 ай бұрын
@@thoccnology It doesn't really work that well, Thocc. I'm using it right now, and I need to switch it to MacOS mode in order for the F10 and F11 keys to lower and increase volume. The general FN + F10 or F11 doesn't do anything in WindowsOS Mode

I really love the Epomaker Zebra switches! They are the best bang for your buck I've found so far. Blows all of the Leobog switches out of the water. How do you like the lemons? I already have too many of these but I think I need to make myself pass on this one. I just watch Merkeebs' video about the Womier KD75 and that one is very intriguing. I wish one of these budget boards would come out in a dark ano purple!
@thoccnology2 ай бұрын
The Lemons are much more high-pitched, that's for sure. Oh, yes, I would want an ano purple so bad. Luminkey65 is coming with a dark purple (though I'm not completely sure if it's anodized, but based on the pictures it should be!~)
@stellanova5223 ай бұрын
WOW! The sound of this keeb with the zebra switches and the thicker keycaps😍it sounds ceramic almost ice like but not too high pitch to where its annoying, i would probably drive myself crazy after using it for a long time, but wow, i love it :3 Crazy how much the sound can change with keycaps and switches, i went from really not liking the first combo and then loving the second one! Dont love the styling on the keycaps but ive seen worse, overall probably not a board i will pick up but definetly a sound profile i will try to replicate for some future board ^^ Thanks for the review
@thoccnology2 ай бұрын
Definitely a big change! My husband has been using it for days with the stock configuration, and it was surprisingly satisfying to listen to it as a background noise (I don't know how he really felt about the sound from up-close :D)

Hi, I appreciate this review and I'm still deciding on a 2.4ghz wireless board that I can make sound thocky, and has on/off on the case and not under the keycaps. I appreciated your last comment and I'm wondering if you still believe the Leobog HI8 is the best option? I'm completely unrestricted by budget, I'm just trying to find a great board, the Q1max was interesting but people struggle to make it sound as good as the HI8. If you have any other thoughts I'd appreciate them.
@thoccnology2 ай бұрын
If it's about thocky&dedicated on/off switch, the best bet is still the Leobog Hi8. (Fortunately, some newcomers cover some features, like the RD75 with the dongle storage - that is usually another pain point in other keyboards for me), but the mode switch is still hidden on many keyboards, sadly. Hi8 is a valid choice regardless of the recent changes in the market. I just saw they reduced the MSRP, so it's an even better buy I think.
@WACC_Warlord2 ай бұрын
@thoccnology Thanks, I ended up buying the HI8 with Vertex V1 switches and Spring Tea keycaps. I appreciated your testing and help.

Hey! thanks for the effort and providing us with details about this keeb 🙏 i wanted to ask if this board is similar to the tide 65 by the latency test of the tide 75? and in addition to that, i wanted to ask if you're going to do an in-depth review on the cidoo v68 (Alice design)? (sorry for the bad english)
@thoccnology2 ай бұрын
Hey! No problem at all, I'm not a native speaker either ^-^ I think the latency should be similar in the Tide65, unless they purchased the PCB from a different factory/using a majorly different firmware. But either way I'm not expecting huge differences at all. I'll look into the Cidoo V68, thank you for the idea (my upcoming month is scheduled to the fullest, so I don't expect it to be soon)

Hey, great video - I'm pretty new to the hobby and was wondering if I could replace the stock switches on this keyboard with more tactile ones (e.g. Gateron baby kangaroos, Boba U4T)? Are there any compatibility concerns here for switches?

Kudos for giving this board a fair shot by replacing the original keycaps with thicker ones and giving the audience two sound tests. However, it shows that the board's sound profile is thinner than most, even after replacing with thicker keycaps. Some people might actually like it, because "thinner" might also be more "airy" to some people. For some reason, it sounds like there's a "thumping" resonance in the sound test. Maybe it's the sound of your desk? Maybe desk mat to help isolate the sound?
@thoccnology2 ай бұрын
That's absolutely right, it definitely has a thinner sound profile. I'm still not sure if it's affected by the case material/thickness or even the coating too.?.. I'd be interesting to hear a professional point of view from an acoustic engineer :)) Ah, don't even mention it, I'm so frustrated currently.. I upgraded my room recently with a sit-stand desk and semi-pro acoustic wall panels - and the desktop ended up being way thinner than the previous one, so it's messed up the whole acoustic. So I still have to do some more experimenting. Bor the next videos, I'll add a deskmat for sure. ^^
