I know this is an old video, but I bought a pair of the closed back Epos H6Pros recently for £70 after watching your reviews and they’re amazing. I’ve owned Astro A40s, Turtle Beach Stealth Pros, Razor Blacksharks & Hyper headsets previously and none compare to these and cost more. The H6Pros is the 1st headset that I can clearly hear footsteps positionally and vertically on warzone. All the others were clear for left and right, but the vertical accuracy was impossible to differentiate. Also, my friends say the mic is crystal clear. Thanks for your reviews, because they are a bargain at £70.

Another thing to mention for this headset, which is important to me, but seemingly also lacking in so many “gaming” headsets (built in microphone) is that the mic monitoring/sidetone is absolutely perfect. I can hear myself clearly and loudly, it doesn’t cause feedback, and allows me to not be loud and wake up my wife and children, which puts me in the doghouse. 😆 I’m speaking of the closed back, which is fairly decent at blocking out external sounds and your own voice, but also would make one speak louder without decent mic monitoring/sidetone. Absolutely loving this headset. 👌
@pinatadonkey5934 Жыл бұрын
I never realized how important sidetone was to me until I started searching for a new headset. If it has poor sidetone I end up screaming cause I can’t hear myself. I’ve been searching for a wireless headset but the closed back H6 may be the way to go for me.
@baileymoto Жыл бұрын
@@pinatadonkey5934 You won’t be disappointed. While a lot more expensive, the turtle beach also does it well, as you can turn the noise canceling to the opposite side, which essentially amplifies ambient noise, to include your voice. If you want wired, I vote the h6pro. If you want wireless, and competitive fps gaming is your jam (footsteps), there really isn’t anything beating the turtle beach pro at the moment. Id be happy to go back to the h6pro, tho. Nice and simple…just more of a pita to eq out the harsh gun sounds, etc. If competitive fps isn’t your thing, I feel the door opens wider for wireless headsets. 👌

I just picked these up recently (shout out to Gadgetrytech - thank you for all the great reviews). And thank you for this comment, it was a selling point on trying these. Just curious, are you just using Windows sound settings under speakers and increasing the microphone volume? That is how I’m using it but curious if there is another option for sidetone? Thank you!

Using an audio compresser fixes the issue of getting hearing damage. SoundLock is a free program I use and it works wonders with not taking away for example footsteps around you and then whenever you do fire your weapon the sound is reduced to the level of your choice. Love your vids. You cost me $350 - felt like I needed some Maxwells after watching one of your more recent ones. (Kidding, I watched a lot of reviews on a lot of different headsets before I settled on the Maxwell, but yours was probably the best, most thorough one). I have been a little bit hooked on headphones and DAC-AMPS recently, for no good reason, and I am having a ball watching these older reviews (going back to near the beginnings of KZbin itself, lot's of 8 year old vids on DT-770 and HD 600 type things - it's endless). The price has come way down on these H6PRO's, especially the closed backs, if any of your viewers come across this. It's pretty interesting how the pattern seems to be prices on a lot of models drop pretty quickly within a year, as newer models come out. You can save 30 - 60 percent (sometimes even more) if you're a little patient, and don't need the latest model.

I used to work in an insanely noisy and crowded environment, and although the environment has improved a lot, Im still leaning slightly towards the closed back headsets, simply because of the natural isolation that it provides However, I use these 99% of the time for work, and with the additional of being able to remove the boom and turn them to standard audiophile headphones, I suddenly cant decide So with so many parts being removable already, when is EPOS making a removable cover so I can switch between open and closed at will :). Sucks that nobody answered you, but I'll give you what I have and works like a charm. One of my favorite AMP/DAC combos when I want to keep things simple is the Creative GC7. It connects to your PC via USBC and you still have optical in for consoles as well as like in. It has a nice switch for low and high gain and it drives almost every headphone I own. So does this mean the open back are not the best option to work at a call center? 😁Serious question: How do these Senheiser-built EPOS compare to the PC 38X ? Thanks in advance!
@GadgetryTech2 жыл бұрын
Not sure how I ever missed this question, sorry!! Better late than never so hear goes... The PC38X has a slight more neutral sound profile. I think the soundstage is slightly better on the PC38X but only by a small amount. I like the pads on the PC38X a lot, with the smooth pads feel very pillow-like. They work well with everything and are pretty forgiving without losing too much detail at all which is great. The H6PRO has a slight v-shape sound but only by a small amount. The H6PRO open back has slightly more bass and more oomph to the sound and overall has higher power handling. So if you like explosions or dynamic sound at higher volume, the H6PRO is easily the pick here. The H6PRO closed back is very different to both of the ones above. The bass much stronger and has a lot more "slam" to then. They are also much more sensitive and overall get much louder than both of the open backs mentioned above. If you don't mind a slightly hyper-focused sound reproduction that a closed back gives you, these are still really nice. They also come with the nicest pads here with gel infused memory foam.

Just got these (closed back) to replace my 6yo Astro A10 and i feel like although the sound is more crisp, it just sounds too sharp/with too much treble and bass is almost non existent especially when used with the Astro Mixamp, which would make my $60 A10s sound very immersive. The Close Back has stronger and tighter bass. If you want bigger explosions and a nice clean, intimate sound, the closed are amazing for that. The Open back has less bass, but sounds a little more spacious in open world games. They both perform well in FPS, but the edge goes to the open back. I don't think you'd be disappointed with either.

@GadgetryTech Hey, thanks a lot for your review! I could get the closed ones for 80€ at the moment but maybe you allow me one general question: I am actually a hobby headphone audiophile and I have quite a decent setup for my windows laptop at home. A good Topping DX9 Amp/DAC with some good headphones of course e.g. the DCA E3... but now I want to play some online FPS games with chat function like DayZ, so I need something with a microphone and also be able to have a sound signature in this gaming headphone which allows to hear footsteps well with a decent spatial localisation ability. And since I am not a pro level gamer, I don't want to spend too much for that. As I said, how would I benefit from my Amp/DAC and still use a built-in microphone in a gaming headset? Thanks!

Hey man, thanks for the review. You are by far my favourite reviewer while I am looking for a new headset for my Xbox Series X. So I have kind of given up on wireless gaming headsets since they all seem to be getting connection problems which I want to avoid. I have an old Sennheiser GSP 300 headset (wired) which I want to replace. I would like to go for the open-back version of the H6PRO, but I am kinda worried about the volume as you were talking about it. Do you think that the open back version could be too quiet for playing on Xbox? Would you definitely recommend the closed back more? I am kind of inbetween those the open or closed variant at the moment.

If you haven't completely given up on wireless I would recommend the LucidSound LS50X the connection has been rock solid since I had them in March using them on my series X. I was like you I had to get rid of my arctis 9x due to the connection issues, then tried corsair HS75, razer with kaira and nari. With the LS50X I couldn't be happier it has never dropped connection and sounds great with black Friday coming up there will be good deals on them. For wired I love my PC38X and they recently went on offer at 129 dollars which was a steal. I have ordered the closed version of the H6PRO and waiting for them to arrive after this great review from Joe.

Bought these based on some of these video reviews and man, I'm still experiencing a slight headache 1 day later. Tried them for a full day and nah, not worth the $160. Footsteps are louder but the highs are way too sharp to the point of causing earaches. I even used an Astro Mixamp and they sound worse with the Dolby turned on than off. Used them by themselves connected to controller and the volume is weak. I will say they are VERY comfortable and look very nice, but being in pain after a few matches and damaging my hearing isn't worth it.
