you don't seal glitter first then epoxy? Also where did you get your torch from? Nice video Thanks
@ElleBeeCreates4 жыл бұрын
You can clear coat the glitter first if you’d like. It’s not typically necessary unless you’re working with a chunky glitter that repels the epoxy. It wouldn’t hurt to do it every time but it’s not required. The torch is from Harbor Freight.

Hi! Does epoxy resin really cure after a long time compared to being cured in a silicone mold?
@ElleBeeCreates4 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure I completely understand your question. Here I’m using a 2 part epoxy resin that takes about 24 hours to set for use, and is fully cured after 30 days. You can use it in a silicone mold, it sets the same.

@brandyscott59846 жыл бұрын
If you want something on it after the glitter, vinyl design or whatever, can you put a 2nd coat of epoxy without it being bulky?
@ElleBeeCreates6 жыл бұрын
I would do the first coat really thin, then apply the decal, and then do a normal top layer.

@@ElleBeeCreates how long do you have to wait for the first coat to dry before you can put the decal on it? Also, how long should I let the second / normal layer of epoxy dry before use?
@ElleBeeCreates5 жыл бұрын
Jess I personally would wait 24 hours as you don’t want to transfer tape to cause issues upon removal. All epoxy resins are a little different but most of the ones I’ve worked with have a 72 hour cure time before it’s recommended to put the item into use, no matter what you’ve used it for (cups, counters, keychains, etc)

Have you tried putting them in a UV nail dryer? I saw someone say that it works, but I can't see how it would
@ElleBeeCreates5 жыл бұрын
You can use UV resin which is cured under a UV light such as those used for curing UV nail gel. Doesn’t work with regular 2 part epoxy. I’ve done plenty with UV resin tho. It works fine so long as you are using the right wattage light for the right time your the particular gel you purchase. It can’t be applied in super thick coats, works better in multiple thin coats.

This is terrific, I just love this idea! Can you please tell me, is the blowtorch optional? Will they still cure without it? Thanks!
@ElleBeeCreates5 жыл бұрын
Yes it will cure without the torch, but it’s used to pop the bubbles in the epoxy, otherwise it will cure with the bubbles which can detract from the final appearance.

It should. I would experiment with how to attach the photo. Maybe between two layers of epoxy? I know a lot of people choose to do sublimation for photos.

Is epoxy and resin the same
@ElleBeeCreates5 жыл бұрын
The terms are used interchangeably but not all epoxies/resins are the same. They come in many types for many different purposes. There are casting resins, floor and counter resins, adhesives and more.

It’s been 4days since I did this and still wet. Followed every instructions and still wet
@ElleBeeCreates4 жыл бұрын
If it hasn’t cured, then your ratios were not correct or it wasn’t thoroughly mixed. Make sure you’re following the directions for your specific brand of epoxy resin, as not all are the same, and not all can be measured by weight.

You shouldn't weigh epoxy, you measure

For some brands, that’s true. However the brand I was using can be measured or weighed. Always read the directions included with the brand you’re using, as they are all quite different.
