Linda I have been collecting broken tempered glass from a few windshield replacement places. The windshields now have some kind of lining in them. Which makes them no good for using with glass art. However the vehicle side windows are great. They save it for me. I have not found it sharp at all while washing in a big bucket of water with my bare hands in it. Yesterday I got a big bucket of dark tinted glass. Doing the happy dance here. This Flamingo project is Absolutely stunningly Beautiful ❤ You did a lovely job painting the Flamingo. Keep creating and smiling. Oh I have a big bucket at two boat places here. I will see if that glass is sharper then my others.

People who have gotten in car accidents where a window has broken, have gotten cuts from the glass. It is sharp when it breaks. Tempered just means it's been heated in a way that if it breaks, it breaks into the small pieces rather than a regular piece of glass that breaks in an irregular pattern with lots of shards which tempered is not supposed to break that way. Fire glass is obviously been treated in a different way that it looks like broken tempered glass, but when its broken, it doesn't break with sharp edges... But, the tempered glass you used, is the same color as the frame and I could tell the difference between it and the sparkle glass, when you held the mirror up, it is subtle but pretty. You did an excellent job painting the flamingo!! I love it!!

The video. My husband and I own a glass company. The tempered glass us a safety glass that when it breaks it will not cut you like plate glass. The reason the tempered glass broke up with the longer shards is the way it was tempered in the oven. Hope this helps you.

@@crazyglasslady not hubby fault it is the temperature of the oven when the glass is run threw it. It happens sometimes but not all the time. It is a safety glass. It is what is in your car doors and backslash, in patio doors, any human passageway. Your car windshield is made of laminated glass another safely glass. Just letting you know.

What all do you add to your tumbler besides the glass to get glass smooth?

Water and carbide grit. When you buy a tumbler the grit comes with it. Then when I run out i order more on amazon. I have a video that explains the entire process and tips. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mn7Unn6oh8yro5Y also has the tumblers I use.

This glass artist recommends Liquitex Glossies glass paint. I have used it on dishes, glasses and such. Can be heat set (or if you let it air dry it becomes permanent too - just takes WAY longer) heat set in low oven for small items - air dry for large. Heed warnings of food ware to only use on the OUTSIDE - I always leave "lip space" on any glasses etc. Tell my gift recipients to hand wash. Paint says safe for dishwasher. I NEVER put mine in dishwasher. Personal preference. enjoy!! :)
