I have been subscribed to Sports Afield forever. Always enjoyed the stories and the quality of the print itself.

I like print. A trip taken through good print is like sound experienced on vinyl. It can excite all the senses, imagination and requires participation while video sometimes feels like it spoon feeds inadequate nutrition.

Spoon feeds inadequate nutrition! I like that analogy.

Ron, great news! I got drawn for the Veteran’s Hunt in Northern Missouri for early November. Pushing 50 and finally going on my first deer hunt. If my upper gets here in time, I will probably use a 450 BM. If it doesn’t, then I have a choice between 350 Legend, 6.5 Grendel, or your favorite, the 308. All of these are modern sporting rifles that I have built. The 308 is likely to be my last choice as I should not need to take any long range shots and that bad boy weighs 14 lbs unloaded. Pretty stoked, wish me luck. I have to take 2 antlerless before I am allowed to take a buck and only have a day and a half to get all three.

That's it blued barrels, walnut stocks 2x7x44 ,1-3/4x5 scopes 270 win.,30-06, 308,243, with a little synthetic stocks and stainless barrels with 300wsm, 7mm-08, 6.8 western and others mixed in is great! My rifles are mostly blued with walnut and redfieldscopes except for my remington 700xcr in 300wsm and my ar . 🤠

My dad's favorite magazine back in the 50s. That was up in Pennsylvania.... I don't see it available down here in Virginia, now.

It's all about $$$$$$$$$$. Kids can't afford to hunt anymore.
@RonSpomerOutdoors-Podcast3 ай бұрын
That's a big part of it, but not all of it. Kid's cant' FIND a place to hunt anymore. How many living in suburbia can walk out the backdoor with a rifle or shotgun as I did as a teen and hunt rabbits, squirrels, pheasants, or ducks? Even adults have to drive hours, sometimes days to reach suitable hunting habitat. There are literally millions of acres of public lands open to free hunting, but they aren't in suburban Denver, Salt Lake, Indianapolis, Tucson, Minneapolis...
