Very nice Work . I never thought that this Car came alive . The handling of this car must be awsome . Walter Röhrl told in an interview from a Test with the other Group S Audi that the Car feels perfect . When your Car is done , Audi should Drive the Group S beside your Car . That would be great .

Grumpy project definitely need to be seen by as many as possible because is way too special to remain another hidden secret gems.. This time Audi boss simply can not do anything to destroy it (even they will not like it) for the fact someone else try to rebuild one of they'r special secret prototypes.. it should be vice versa, they should be honored because this project is really so special they might want it in a full display photo shoot next to survival Group S- quattro RS-002 * the more SF one that follow this..

For your wife: hide a random tool (torque wrench and 13mm amd 6mm allen) and loosen a handful of non-structural screws enough that you can tell they're loose. It's like elf on a shelf. Your hubby will love it.

Dave a man of your experience should know to always lube your rubber before pulling it down yer shaft (18:50secs). Even a bit of spit usually helps😜.

Suspension work is coming along! Missed an opportunity to buy a new tool... They have a inner tie-rod specific tool set that you should look into. Would make replacements with all the suspension arms in place much easier.

There is as far as I’m aware the CG of the car itself ie static mass and then there’s the theoretical mechanical roll centre and a dynamic CG ( when the car is moving ) . Static mass generally will not change once all fluids and driver are accounted for , whereas the mechanical CG will change with suspension geometry movements/ adjustments . It get’s even more involved when you split the front and rear axle mass CG as in this case with it being rear engined the theoretical CG will be higher due to the engine/ transmission compared to the front . I’ve been pondering stuff like this and have come to the conclusion that it’s best to reduce the mass above the crankshaft centre / wheel centre is the ideal scenario. Realistically I’d suspect the static CG to be around 100mm above the crank due to the bodywork , exhaust/ cylinder head / driver/ seat etc .David’s yaw sensor is probably mounted at the correct height ( aprox 100mm above the crank CL ) but that’s just my guess . Im Probably totally wrong as there will be many people out there more knowledgeable than myself . So there is actually 3 CG datum’s to work with and consider 😳…. Well actually probably 4 as there is the gyroscopic effect of the drivetrain to consider, ahh and then there’s the drag / downforce to consider and it’s effects on the CG so that’s 5 . Anyone who has had RC cars will have experienced the gyroscopic effects when powering up a car held in their hand , it will pitch/ yaw when powering up , so really the CG is constantly changing around the XYZ axis. Helicopter rotor blades are also balanced both statically and dynamically . Answers / opinions/ corrections on a postcard 😂

Great to see the build of such an iconic car. Could I suggest one small change to your format though? Rather than put parts on in real time, put them on and then talk about them after, or talk about them and then show a fast montage of them going on. Your audience will appreciate it more and still stay engaged 👍

Hello! Robin from sweden here! really in to your project🕺! I am also building a tube frame chassi, but on a Polo instead 🙂! i am abit interested on your strategy when it comes to steering rack position and how your thoughts are around bumpsteer and how you will implement this with the R8 uprights. would be nice if you guys could talk abit about it 🤗 Regards Robin from Digifi Polo build here on YT.

Amazing build so far!!! 😍 Two questions: the hole where the steering column is going through the front, will you leave that open or will it be covered somehow? You sprayed something as a "lubricant" on the steering rack to fit the boot easier on- was it brake cleaner? If so, I would highly recommend not to bring this stuff in contact with rubber (and plastics), it is fairly aggressive and destroys the softener. The rubber will then deteriorate fast and start to brittle (my bittersweet experience)... I know you know your business well, so please don't mind this little advice and take it for granted!😉

With the ABS jaw sensor , you said it's in the centre of gravity ( COG ) of the car ... But as the car isn't finished how did you work out the COG ? Or did you mean it's located in the centre of the wheel base . I am surprised the COG is lower than a single seat race car looking at the location .
