Let's see what surprises this Epson Equity I+ turbo XT clone PC has hiding inside! Not only does it have some little surprises, but it has the worst case design I have ever seen on a computer. Clearly, Krampus left this #DOScember present for me!

These were actually very solid machines, back when we where selling them retail (I was with MicroAge at the time). The case actually makes sense from a Printer company point of view :) You don't open printers that much, and I think that Epson thought the same would happen here. Good news is all the quality rf shielding.

Man, what an adventure with this computer, but nicely done on the cleanup inside and getting everything going. Just don't forget to take it apart one last time to reinstall the power switch extender before you sell it down the road 🙂

We have a term for this: MINTY (Mouse-Infested, Not Telling You = MINTY). We all get MINTY PCs once in a while. While you hate the case design, it was a really solid and nice clone to use; wife used one for an entire year in college and had zero issues.

I will have to use MINTY from now on! :) It isn't even just that I was frustrated by the case design... I just don't understand why they did it like that. But... I can imagine that this was a nice system to use back in the day. A 10MHz CPU with EGA graphics and high quality text mode would have been great. I played around a little bit with the keyboard that came with it, and it feels really good to type on.

Worst case I ever worked with was the Macintosh Quadra 800/Power Macintosh 8000 series. Absolute nightmare... Fiddly as all get out, massive disassembly required to do even minor tasks, constant finger cut hazards, and very prone to small part breakage. Pity the 840AV is the most powerful 68k Mac ever.

I haven't had the "pleasure" of working on many 68k Macs... yet. The case for the IIfx was fine, but that's the only thing I've done much with.

the cat of a friend of mine once killed a pretty expensive audio dsp by pissing into the pc while we were setting it up. we cleaned it up and claimed it was dead on arrival and had a replacement shipped within a day :P the fuse tripped before damaging the rest of the pc though... i guess you could call that a worse case :D

You saw my video in where I turned it on, you could see how badly yellowed it was and how both disk drives sounded like failing, and yours is in waaaaay better condition so if you haven't sold it yet i would want a minimum of 250$ for it.
