How to clean the inside glass on an Epson Perfection V200 Photo Scanner.

Epson V330 user here -- all the steps are the same. For those asking, in the last step of opening (the long, left hand side) you just need to slide or push the whole top to the left, it will come off the latches easily. All in all it's easier than I thought, thanks to this example. Thanks again!

I tried the sliding deal with the V330, just didn't know which end to slide left, the top or bottom, what orientation is the scanner laying, etc. I continued to gently pop off the end where the buttons are and it finally came apart. Thank goodness.

Just started a project to scan old prints and negatives, to find some really bad dirt marks on the underside of the glass. Was ready to throw out and invest in a new V550. But 30 mins later after watching your walkthrough have a clean scan bed and everything working great. Thanks you just saved me £200. On the negative side - got to come up with another justification for a new scanner ;-)

Your video is really good and I managed to clean my Epson Perfection V300 under the glass with your instructions. However, it was very difficult to get the scanner re-assembled until I noticed that the scanner bar in your video was actually in middle and not on the end under the power button where it usually rests. I simply used a gentle push to move it forward and the scanner went back in place perfectly and easily.

Almost identical to my Epson V350. I was able to clean a band of dust in the glass that collected where the scan bar likes to stay in the center of the glass. Thank you!

Thank you so much for this video. I was having to scan only using half the platen because I had so much grime on the other half. Now I can use the whole platen again. When taking it apart, I had problems separating the top right around where the buttons are located, but I just used a flat blade screwdriver to pry it apart there. For those of you having problems putting it back together, it helps if you fold the cover back on the top half so the thin cover flap by the hinge doesn't get in the way.

This video was really helpful. Epson Perfection V10 has a nearly identical structure. Separating upper and lower parts wasn't as flawless, though. I used two knives. Put them near each scaner's corner, the blade going to the upper side (in other words, not perpendicularly bot at approximately 50-60 degrees). And then carefully moved the blades down simultaneously. It worked, but some minor plastic details were damaged a little. Plus scratched on the side between which the blades were put. I cleaned the inner side of the glass, gathered dust from the bottom and reassembled the scanner. Hope it'll work again)

How did everyone do it? I removed the screws, but the end where the buttons are is still firmly clipped into place. Feels like its gonna crack when I try to pull the plastic up. EDIT: Never mind, I wrastled it around some more and showed it who was boss, and it popped open. :P (Large flathead screwdriver helps if anyone's struggling.)

Hi Eric, if appropriate for you, I would like to know more about opening top cover of V330. Can't open the button side and do not want to force plastic parts.

I assume you already have the long, right hand side open, which you did by pulling upward, then maybe with a little help using a flat screw driver or a credit card, extend the opening to the short sides. Lastly, for the long left-hand side, don't pull it upward because that's where the latches are locking it, but instead push or slide the whole top to the left, it should come off more easily.

I sort of get vertical bars or lines .... Can cleaning the glass remove these bars... These bars are very dim... Just the color is fade at the interfaces of these bars... Usually the bars are 5mm or less vertical fade colors of scan in appearance

i know its 9 years bacl lol but do you think there is a possability that the trasparty widow light on mine could be broken have not used it in years but just got sent some slides gave it a go on windows 11 no luck no scan button pressing alt key prings back the scan buttton but when i go to film it greys out ..then if a preview its just say remove mat or close lid ..so its software or light broken ..not sure .sofware does work better on older laptop on windos 10 ..but again go to film and greys out ..and same wiith previeuw close lid and or remove mat

Thank you, it worked for my v37 as well. However my problem is with lint accumulated where the glass is glued to the frame, I really don't know how to get rid of that. I figure since it's very close to the white calibration stripe, it's the reason why I get vertical streaks on my scans ._.

So I have the same model, but had issues when I reached the part at 1:58 when you say “push forward”. The area around the buttons did not want to budge no matter which way I pushed. I did manage to pry mine open but a small plastic piece fell off. Not really a big deal, was able to put back together and works just fine, but can anyone clarify what I was supposed to do at this step for if I need to do this again? Thanks for making this video I’d have been totally stumped otherwise!

It is better to spray on the paper than the glass to avoid it from flowing uncontrollably down the glass.

Getting the hinge edge back on was harder than getting the non-hinge edge off! My hinge eventually busted but the case came together once the hinge was removed and now it works again.

i did this like 18 months a go and my scanner scans blurry photos, no matter what setting i use. any idea why? i just grabbed it out from the back of the cupboard to try and fix it........

Try a heat gun or hair dryer around the edges. Just warm it to the touch. It comes right off.

I really wouldn't trust inked newspaper to clean the inside of a scanner. Too much gunk on the paper... and who knows what chemicals are used in newspaper ink these days!
