Make sure you read my article in the description! After further testing I've found that clamping the input for color film will produce far less noise than using an unclamped input.

This is like the ultimate scanning text book for scanning films. How this video is not viewed a million times is beyond me

This deserves way more views. All the other videos I’ve watched haven’t given me even 10% of what this video did. Thank you sir!

I will have to do some research into how much of this color info applies to the nikon coolscan software

You're right that the Epson Scan and Epson Scan 2 are basically the same just with different UI, I was able to match all the buttons/features between old and new version. EXCEPT, there is one difference, and a very sad one, about Espon Scan 2 is that it does NOT support "digital ICE". Yes, the later version of the software disables a key feature of the scanner. To fix this, Espon suggest using SilverFast SE which comes free with if you're the original register of the scanner.

My ES2 supports Digital ICE, you can even see the option in the video at 1:11 BUT this is on MacOS so maybe the windows version of ES2 doesn't have ICE, I haven't tried it on windows.

About what you said on Digital ICE at 20:24, that has happened to me when scanning old negatives in a bad state. The negative is in such poor state, that the scanner tries to fix too many things and makes a complete mess. I haven't seen that in newer negatives, like, the ones we shoot "now" or very old but well preserved. I can send you some examples by email if you want. Just found your channel, having a v600 your videos on this regard have been really helpful, thank you, sub'd.

Wow, that histogram tip is very useful, I always made sure to clamp, but didn't think to check each channel!

Finally found a video that doesn't cover the exact same cookie cutter process that doesn't help at all
