👌Thank you for creating this video! 👌 😁 Out of all the videos on KZbin providing instruction, I like yours the very best. ABSOLUTELY the BEST! I just cleaned my Epson WF-4830 following your instructions and it is now doing well. YAY! I used a non-shedding fake chamois with distilled water to do mine. I also used cotton swabs around the upper part of the print head assembly (where the ink cartridges feed the ink in*) as there was a good deal of ink, black ink, on both the black AND the adjacent color pooled there. *Did I get a bad cartridge at some point that leaked? That is actually a question for you that I'd appreciate if you could answer as the manufacturer of the cartridges guarantees them. OMG but I can't believe how toner just kept coming and coming and coming and coming! I filled three heavy duty cleaning rags full of those toner skid marks from the printhead. It must have really been jammed. BTW, if I could be so bold as to enrich your instructions: 1) a "0" head Phillips is required to get the screws out; 2) Do NOT use tap water. Used distilled water. In the United States we have notoriously horrible hard water that is filled with pulverized rock, hence: "HARD" water and various metals that could bring harm to the printhead; 3) Use a very soft non shedding cloth; 4) one may have to run the "clean print head" (from the maintenance menu) 3 to 4 times before the nozzles get properly primed again. When I ran the first test I freaked out because the first test was far worse than it was to start. It took a total of four and the printer is printing better than new now! I'm not exaggerating! The print is much crisper and darker than it was the day I bought the printer. While I hate running that mode because I know that it eats toner like crazy, it's a small price to pay to restore print quality. 5) IMMEDIATELY remove and replace the toner collection box located inside the back of the unit. ~Running the cleaning mode several times consumes and dumps absolutely ENORMOUS amounts of toner/ink into the collection box so it is ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY imperative immediately replace it after this process is run as it WILL be quite full when everything is completed. Trying to run your printer with a full box presents it's whole own set of problems that aren't exactly fixable. Ok...NOT fixable! 6) if you haven't already, definitely order a new set of ink cartridges too because that cleaning gobbles up toner like crazy and you are going to find that your ink levels have shrunk to almost nothing. To explain why you need to get a new collection box right away... ordinarily most of the toner is being deposited onto your paper as you are printing. When you are cleaning the printhead via the instructions on the screen, the automatic cleaning, enormous amounts of toner are flushed through the nozzles and through the printhead and are deposited directly in that box. It is very easy to change and quite inexpensive. You just open the back door located on the left side of the back of the unit as it is facing you and slide the old box out keeping it up right, because it is full of black liquid sludge, and sliding the new one in. You may have to tell the screen that you are going to do that first so that it can reset. The collection boxes come with gloves and the disposal bag. Please be extremely careful as it is liquid and it will make a horrendous mess if you are not extremely careful. Hold it perfectly upright and put it into the bag and seal it. 7) THIS IS THE MOST CRITICALLY IMPORTANT THING YOU WILL EVER DO FOR YOUR PRINTER IN ALL OF IT'S LIFE! IF YOU ARE GOING TO USE OTHER THAN THE PURE EPSON CARTRIDGES MAKE DARN SURE THAT YOU HAVE AUTOMATIC UPDATES TURNED OFF! THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS AUTOMATIC UPDATES. WHAT AUTOMATIC UPDATES ARE IS EPSON (and every other printer company out there..... they all do it now) remote snooping into your printer and the only AUTOMATIC UPDATING actually going on is THEIR DATABASES READING WHAT TONER CARTRIDGES YOU ARE USING and if they are GENUINE EPSON INK, they will absolutely, positively perform an automatic update to your printer by RENDERING YOUR PRINTER ABSOLUTELY USELESS. I guarantee it. It happened to me with a Canon. I have no idea how automatic updates even got turned back on because I used to work in the industry, for Canon actually, and I know better than to leave automatic updates on. I am poor you to check your computer, your cellular devices, anything that is connected to that printer and make sure that none of them are allowing automatic updates of any sort. Please double check and make absolutely certain! I appreciate your video very much! With most of the others on KZbin, they have the concept right but just weren't as clear and concise as yours. ❤ I hope you don't mind that I added some additional information that people may find helpful. You solved the problem for me that was very upsetting and I'm just value adding to your excellent video. Please advise about what you think about finding the pool of black ink??? Should I call the manufacturer of the cartridges or just let it go? They've always been very good to me and I've never had problems before. Besides, I already checked their website and they're all out of 822XL so I'm jumping ship to a different supplier, sadly. Thank you very much again! 🌞👌

If black is only coming out then what does that mean when I clean it with the spray bottle?

That means black is working but others are clogged.

The video is great but the only problem is, we cannot see where the screwdriver is going to pop out the cartridges on the side. Please can you take a shot of the right and left side where you are putting the flathead to pop it out. Thanks so much!

It is quite intuitive once you start to dig around with the screwdriver. Start on the right side with the front of the printer facing you, obviously. Then push the printhead housing over to the right a little bit and just gently feel around with the tip of the screwdriver until you see it give. Then you can lift it out. As the originator of this video advises, do NOT unhook the cable strap but just sort of set the housing as he did in the video.
