EQOA Sandstorm: NEW Update Hype!

A tale of 3 servers. Hagley, is no longer being developed. Faxon, who put in hurculean efforts, is no longer able to develop for real life reasons. Both of the two other servers, Sandstorm and the upcoming EQOAEmu use some info that Hagley helped to uncover and create, such as items and NPC placement, along with some other info. Aside from that, Sandstorm and EQOAemu are 2 completely separate projects. There was an initial effort to keep the content neutral, but due to the 2 servers differing development methodologies, separate content teams formed as well. Otherwise, both servers are written very differently with different code and different development approaches. One notable difference is that Sandstorm is developing with the community as a live testing group, and EQOAemu aims to release limited portions of the game at a time, with a more complete experience from the start, even if limited in scope at first. Everyone is familiar with Sandstorm at this point, but EQOAemu also had a big behind the scenes update.

Thank you for clearing that up Jeremiah. Can you elaborate on the drama rumors? If you wish to leave that off, i completely understand. I just hope there is no bad blood between the two. As unfortunate as it is that there is a divergence between devs, EQOAEmu has not been playable, where Sandstorm has been. I kind of look at Sandstorm as the open Alpha test, where EQOAEmu will be the full release.

I use to play EQ1 private servers and loved playing on the exp boosted ones for fun, if there's something like that with armor sets that have crazy OP stats I think it would be fun to duel box on for a minute. Mainly to explore raid content I never saw or needed a whole guild to go through.

Yeah, it definitely has benefits. I'm just concerned about how it might play into server population. But i can see that being cool. I'm already enjoying Sandstorm being more laid back, though i'm pretty sure that's going to change.

Maybe if I walk around in my blue level 17 warrior gear, with a brown leather helmet, someone will open a trade with me and give me a blue one. lol

LOL, i know them feels. My SK still has no gloves. Everything else is red. But they added the Troll 17 quest in, just been kinda lazy haha.

I always liked the EQ2 OST, Final Fantasy IX and now Monsters & Memories. The Evil Forest track i used in this is very similar to the new track Robert made for Monsters & Memories. I think it might have been an inspiration.

no having two different servers splitting up the community is bad all around.... from the moment i heard their was multiple servers being worked on the first thing i thought was oh great so now people are gonna be slip and torn between servers and just dwindle the numbers of people who are playing on whatever server....

It depends if you're cool with a wipe happening. Because this is pretty much just a test server atm. It's a lot of fun, but if you're adverse to starting over i would wait.

Do u think the were quest will be like the original I remember farming for 3 days before I ran into the person I needed to find for the quest boy I’ve never had satisfaction like that from a quest in any video game

So much progress. At this point, they have shown it's not a matter of if, but a matter of when we have the game back to a full functional mmorpg. I'm excited to see the class mastery coming back. I totally forgot about the faction page. Now weres coming in woot! I usually went gaterwere mostly cause I liked that you could see your armor and weapons in it's first form, I didn't do the quests for the stats lol.

Oh definitely. These guys mean business. I think it's helped to see the reaction from the players. I know if i was working, i would work harder due to the reception. I always liked Lionwere. I just love Lions, and cats in general lol. Would be cool if they could make it so all the first forms display weapons. Seemed like a bit of an oversight by SoE thinking back on it.
