Being an apolitical person myself I can tell that I do have an opinion.. I see what's going around.. I know about the issues going on and I'm also aware about my political leaning but I don't want to share it with anyone.. I have other issues which needs my attention.. I have to earn and take care of my family.. I believe it's much more important than tweeting or putting up a story about my political beliefs.. Also the girl in the video (not aastha) is clearly left leaning.. what if a person is right leaning.. they're not apolitical but according to her they're also wrong.. so she just wants everyone to have one opinion.. and that's much worse than being apolitical. Great video as always

Being apolitical comes somewhere from privilege. When u are denied of any rights you might need to take a stand against those who deny it. The word political is not just about political parties, it's about the political views. I don't follow a particular political party but I'm not apolitical. I vote for an individual regardless of any party whom I find better among the candidates. Think of the future if everyone becomes apolitical, will India be a democratic nation then?

Having a political view is fine but constantly posting about it on social media and engaging in political debates is definitely not a necessity.. nowadays people associate political views on the basis of how much you post about it on social media..I think that is ones choice whether to exercise their political views publicly on a platform or not caring to post anything about it..and also as Astha said.. different people feel for different issues..you can't expect everyone to have a view about everything.

@@Stotralogy Even most of the people, if not all, who are political shouldn't whine or complain to or about the government. Common people are the worst of things that happen to any country, especially in a democracy. Not that I support being oblivious to the things happening in the country, but, discussing a problem is a thing and discussing a problem from a political view just to have ego-orgasms by telling the other person, "My political ideology is right, yours is wrong" makes a person even worse than a Apolitical person. People in general either vouch for a left wing party and criticize a right wing party, or they vouch for a right wing party and bash a left wing party. For most political people, their favourite party is totally white and the other party is all black. Needless to say, people have obscene expectations from any government. A common man blames everybody for everything, because he/she cannot accept his/her own faults. Today, in almost all the cities, towns and villages, the percentage of people without masks, are hovering in range of 70-80%. These are the bastards who caused the disastrous 2nd wave, and they are hell bent on to bringing the 3rd wave. Ask any of them, and each one them will twll you how the government is not doing this and that. Sorry but no sorry, these people don't even deserve to live. And, it's not just about the covid. These people are reckless im their l8ves, profession, relationships and what not. I am Apolitical, in the sense that I refrain from discussing politics or political ideologies with people. But, I do keep myself updated with the happenings in the country. The only thing that I have under control in terms of politics is vote I get to cast every 5 years. I do that, and leave it to chances. I don't complain, because, I feel that if I have the right to be a whiny-ass-bitch, then I should have a practical solution to it, at least a reference. If there was really a system to evaluate that how well a common man scores in terms of being a respnsible citizen, I am sure most people would score in negative numbers. And, if any son of a gun tells me that I am not a responsible citizen due to me being apolitical, then they are simply delusional.

I was always apolitical but in the last 2 yrs my thinking has completely changed. I believe we all need to be political. When we elect an individual, they hold certain responsibility towards us and so do we. While their responsibility is to work for us by building projects, passing law , providing employment ours is to make sure they do such work diligently. Covid had a huge impact on all our lives. We saw our health system collapse. Our hospitals, doctors were overworked. The reason behind is how the authorities completed ignored their duty. We are to blame as much as them as we didn't question them enough. A lot of people lost their lives, their families, their livelihood. It is more important for us to be political now rather than being spectators. It is not important only to display it through social media! One can be political in anyway they want. But we need to ask questions to everybody, the media, opposition and the party in power for a healthy democracy. Ps Would suggest watching video made by Vitamin Stree channel.

0:31 🙄Oh, for petesakes. Apolitical does not mean "not expressing an opinion". It just simply means unrelated to political affairs. And, also it's not synonymous with being non-partisan, because you can still be actively engaged in politics without being partisan. That's it. 1. Apolitical is neither smart, nor stupid. It's just simply a matter of personal choice that you make on your own. Just like being political doesn't make you any more intelligent than somebody who doesn't follow politics. So, therefore, it doesn't really matter if somebody is being political or apolitical. It's all a matter of personal choice. 2. There's no such thing as monolithic apolitical people, because lacking interest in politics is an individual thing. Not really a group thing. So, therefore, not everybody who lacks interest in politics are gonna share some commonality with each other. That'll be no different than saying that people who are not into sports gonna share some commonality with each other. 3. There's no such thing as "apoliticism", because it's not really an ideology, nor is it even a worldview. It's just a personal choice that you make on your own. Just like choosing to be apathetic toward things such as sports, superhero comicbooks, and movies doesn't even require to have an ideology in order to do that, because these are just personal choices that you make on your own. So whoever put "ism" in front of apolitical is a complete idiot.

I have enjoyed your views and your attempts to play down the extreme views expressed. however, it is not okay to be apolitical, whether or not you are rich or poor. Voting is not the end of politics it is the beginning. you have to be political to enforce the vote, especially in a time when electoral politics has been captured by the super rich. more so because your vote is secret and you have participated in a process that has allowed some to have enormous power over others. Thus it is imperative that you take responsibility to not let them abuse the power. one is better off if you entirely withdraw from this process, and not even vote rather than go and vote, elect an abusive government and then claim you have done your political responsibility. Watch George Carlin on voting, you will get a very interesting perspective behind the humour. If you choose to be apolitical, either by your claim to privelege or poverty, you choose to let others have power over you. With the privileged it is even more insidous as often it could be their relatives who are wielding power and therefore one might be enjoying the fruits of abuse without taking responsibility. But on the other hand, for the poor to claim to be apolitical, even though on a practical terms seems reasonable, is that if not for active engaged politics (not social media tweets please) there is no escape from exploitation. you have to organize, learn to work in groups and collectively challenge power. the poor have no other resources than their collective strength. so they have no option. A subject population has nothing else but politics --- to paraphrase Subhas Chandra Bose.

So you've stated here that "your outrage is personal". That's a hundred percent true. But that's also why being apolitical comes from a place of privelige. If you or community is not personally harmed by politics, you won't give that much of a damn about it (generally speaking). Is that not privelige on your part? Would you still be silent if you or your community had to face immediate danger due to politics? In the end it is a matter of privelige, valuing some things more than other, valuing some lives more than other. One can accept this and be comfortable with this (the case with most nationalists); one can refuse to accept this and revolt against it (the case with a some of human rights activism) or one can ignore it (being apolitical).

Being APOLITICAL is MORE unnatural, than stupid. As one great man once said...Its in your shirt and your pant!

To me it’s pretty natural. I suck at politics. I thought Brexit was a dental adhesive.
