One of my favorite professional riders. He is very sympathetic in his riding style. Unlike other riders, he doesn't force the horse's head onto his chest, the horse doesn't have an open mouth or swishing tail through the entire programme. Sure, his gait is not as "showy" as some other horses in the Olympics, but he executes the test correctly, without the horse losing beat or missteping just to get a more "showy" step. Huge fan!

The Japanese are very underestimated in the sport of dressage but this great rider for Japan is a great ambassador because here he shows that your horses head dosent have to be tucked in just for a better performance this Japanese rider clearly loves his horse and is very pleased with the performance it gave

This man is an absolutely phenomenal rider. Hands, seat, just everything. So beautiful and balanced. This is what Drassage is supposed to look like. Not that overly showy rediculesness that usually wins.

I've rewatched this today and it's still impressive to me. This is the kind of kur where you can see the teamwork and the dedication put into it by both rider and horse. You can see in the riders movement that he does dressage out of passion and love for the horses and not because of money (which is sadly common) This Video made me respect this man to an incredible extent. Thank you for this amazing performance.

Saying that the horse is doing all the work is not true. Do you think horses want to do that just to do it? That their bodies normally do that kind of movement? Dressage, hunter, jumper all takes so much from the person AND the horse.
@uiida
@uiida 8 жыл бұрын
Horses CAN do those movements on their own. Collection, lead changes, etc. They just don't realize it until the rider asks them to do it. It just takes the horse a while to figure what exactly the rider is asking them to do. This rider has complete control of his horse. It takes a lot of trust. It could have been a bit more fluid in some of the movements. Especially the lead changes. Otherwise it was a fantastic performance.

At least you called it a sport! :D This style of riding is called Dressage. Basically it is a test to see how well the horse listens to the rider. The rider may not look like he is doing much but trust me, these things are VERY difficult to do. On the outside of the arena you can see some white cones with letters on them, and they are the markers. The rider has to memorize what to do at each point, for example, his course may be to trot at A, extend the trot at O, and bend at C. In the beginning you can see go down the middle, stop, and bow his head and sweep his right arm. This is a salute to the judges. I don't fully understand Dressage because I do Hunter Jumping, however I have friends who do this. Hope this helps!

+Amelia Kung how he controlled his horse ?
@cckung2001
@cckung2001 8 жыл бұрын
+KH SM I'm assuming that you are asking about how did he control his horse. This is actually a pretty tough question, because there are a lot of different ways to control horses. Most of the power comes from the legs, squeezing the horse at the exact time and balancing the horse enough for the horse to feel the need to exaggerate his movements. A little of the control comes from the hands, however it is very rarely used. The hands will make the horse face a direction and give the horse a place to lean on for support. Keeping your body back and staying straight up also helps with control. All these movements must be done with very precise timing for the horse to actually do what you want him to do. The main thing is to remind the horse that he needs to do something. For example, if you lean back a certain way and squeeze your legs around your horse just enough, you will tell your horse to exaggerate his steps. The horse CAN do it all on his own, however it is up to the rider to remind and tell the horse "exaggerate." Sort of like if you had a painful ankle, and you go to the doctor, then the doctor tells you that you pulled your ankle and need some rest and medicine. You already know that your ankle hurts, you just don't know what to do about it. The rider is the doctor, who tells you what you need to do. I'm sorry if you don't understand it fully, but it's hard to explain using just words. If you can, try riding sometime just for the fun of it and you might just get what I'm trying to say :) hope this helps!

Entertaining event, but cmon...it's not a spot. It's one of those privileged hobbies, hardly deserving to be in the olympics where everyone should have a chance...pff joke really.

It is a sport and a very difficult one. The whole purpose is to make it look easy. I like to see you try to get on a horse and do this. This takes years to get it right.

Learn how to ride in 2 months. hop on the back of a horse CORRECTLY.PERFORM. a piaffe, canter pirouettes, half pass in trot and canter, shoulder in, flying lead changes, and all of the other movements. then come back and say that its not a sport and that it doesn't deserve to be in the olympics. Dressage and all the Equestrians event are IN FACT THE HARDEST SPORT OUT THERE!

+Britney Moonpie (star stable online) You go! I ride myself and speaking personally-riding, its certainly not easy!! Its mental+physical. Both emotional+logical (if you get where I'm going to). In short, its a well rounded sport and equally requires skill-but its a motivation to show the importance of trust between two species that really makes "our" sport stand out unique.

A joke? What an ignorant comment. Ignorance is born from not trying it or doing your research on what is required, but yet passing judgement. Just a general statement: it saddens me to see so many comments from either folks with the lack of critical thinking skills or immaturity on KZbin.
