Great video. So true that a one-off 1m40 with a sympathetic set-up doesn't necessarily mean he'll go on to do 1m40 classes, but it is definitely an indication of potential; hoping he'll go on to develop the "fifth leg" that will help in bigger tracks. Considering how he panicked and rushed fences when you were starting him off, he has come on by leaps and bounds since then and seems so laid back. Your skill as a horsewoman is very evident; we don't see battles but gentle guidance and persuasion. You set him up to succeed and progress in incremental stages, just as we have seen over the years with your horses at home in Ireland.

Give him one more year and he’s gonna shine the brightest! You can really see that he is able to but probably needs a bit more stability between the jumps, but you can really see how hard yall worked on his flat cause he’s doing so well. Amazing job Holly! You’ve been bringing out the best in him.

The app is actually a feature of the new iPhone. It uses an infrared laser and measures the time it takes to send the laser and receive the reflected light. It's actually really cool that a phone can do such precision measurements :) (great video btw and really cool horse - it's incredible how he turned out!)

Such a good rider and so nice to see how you develop horses. What a star Rocky is. Did you also move the line out as the jump went up? Makes for a tight line otherwise.
Every time I see you with Rocky your partnership blows me away. I just love how relaxed you both are going over that ginormous fence!!!! I'm voting we change Rocky's name to Rocky Wowsers, or Rocky Superstar, or something equally impressive. You just couldn't ask for more from him AND you've set him up for success every step of your journey together. I think once you broke the height barrier with Khal entering Grand Prix levels, heights are now much more about technique for you and making sure your horse is fit enough for what you're asking of them. What a great video, Holly. thank you so much -- vicarious thrills for me, for sure :)

Omg he jumped amazing. The only thing l’m recommended is maybe next time as the jump gets higher make they jumps even further apart so he gets a bit more time to pick up his feet. 🥰 or make it two strides so he has more time to process the next jump.

Did the other horse have an artificial tail, if that is a thing? Had it suffered an accident at some time and lost it. Just curious....

It’s just a tie-in tail bag. Keeps the tail clean, very common to see western riders keep these tail bags on their horses when training 😊

@lesliepark33702 жыл бұрын
No, he isn’t ready to do a 1.4 m course, but thoroughbreds are very athletic and used to be what most show jumpers rode. You probably won’t have time to develop him into that level but it’s not impossible given enough time and training. Nice work.

Haha I always beg Alison to do a little jump! 😂
@ketteu5 ай бұрын
Would jump higher ez if your setup was a little better! A simple pole on the ground is the best option if you need help with the stride, but especially if you insist on the cross pole, do not place it so close! Your horse needs more stride to jump his best, also don't bring him so close&short to the lead-up jump/pole for the same reason, it will be way easier for both you and your horse🙂 Handsome boy with lots of potential tho! 🫶

I mean no hate, but please please use a curb strap with an elevator, they tend to over rotate in the mouth which is really painful for the horse and puts a ton of poll pressure on, you also really should have 2 sets of reins so you can attach the running martingale to the snaffle rein, again I really mean no hate I just want the best for him just as you do ❤
@kirkhurry96462 жыл бұрын

Huge improvement from where he started 😂. I know you are a vet but each video (maybe it’s just the video) I see very toe first landings and front hooves that are crushed heels/caudal failure. I’ve dealt with this in my own ottb and the difference in movement is incredible. I know you did a full check on him but I wanted to mention it just in case you have to go digging for answers to issues later on 😅
@Lisanisky2 жыл бұрын
He would have got that 145 if the front pole was a bit higher. Would have got him up infront quicker
