Equilibrium is a strange one for me; their music is objectively not terrible, and when newcomers hear them they like them. Their singers have always been really solid, and the band is clearly very talented in all of its iterations. Where I struggle with them is that I don't know who they are anymore; they're too experimental, and like many, I prefer their epic folk metal. The "off the beaten path" albums wouldn't be bad if they were from other artists. If I had to guess why I am not their biggest fan anymore, it is that I fell in love with them at a point in my life when their music really resonated with me. They've moved on from Turis Fratyr - Erdentempel; when I hear them now, I always go, "Oh, I miss the old stuff," which isn't fair to the band, really. I wish them well with their new stuff, but it isn't for me.

Understandable. I sometimes think „maybe they should have retired the name and go with a new one“ just to disassociate with the folk metal past they had. Since this is different, not bad just different

Bands changing over time is one thing, but this is an entirely different genre and has nothing do with the the originaly band anymore. Nobody would recognise this as Equilibrium / new fans wouldnt recognise the old stuff as being from the same band. They kept the name to keep the old bands fame, meh

I think the easiest defense against people who spread much worse emotions about this issue would be, as was said, just to leave Equilibrium to its own legacy and create this completely different music under a new project. Like this, I still cannot but compare with the old lineup (I loved Manuel's drumming) and style which nowadays is really unfair. But I'd say Rene brought it upon himself. I just cannot follow where he goes under this name anymore. Also, just to be clear, the "off the beaten path" is far from what this is. Maybe in the context of Equilibrium but in reality... its much more from the jungle to a highway.

Love their old stuff, but also love the new sound. Them, Wolfheart, and Brymir are making such good music in this "Epic Melodeath" space, but I also understand that some fans just want them to stay the same. Took me a long time with Katatonia and Amorphis for me, but now I love those two more now than I did back then, so I feel this is kinda where I am with this band. This band is amazing live, no matter the era. Seen 'em twice and they sounded and played great. I think fans are valid in any differing of opinion to my own, though.

These guys remind me of Sepultura. Let me explain. People are always complaining they miss the old Sepultura (Max & co), but the new Sepultura has more years and more albums under its belt. Same with these guys. The old stuff was done a long time ago, it's over. To be clear, I love both the old and the new Sepultura and I love pretty much every Max Cavalera project. Same here, I like both the old and the new Equilibrium. But it's understandable to fall in love with how a certain band sounds and be disappointed if they change that. (I feel that with Maiden, for example. Brilliant old(er) albums, couldn't finish listening to Senjutsu or whatever the hell the last album was called).

Go check some Finntroll, Ensiferum, Finsterforst, Turisas, Brymir, Kivimetsän Druidi, Korpiklaani, Wintersun, Moonsorrow, Manegarm, Duskmourn, Bran Barr, and so many more... If you don't find something in, sorry bro no one can something for you... Go listen Turis fratyr and Sagas 7/7 and enjoy :) But please respect the choice of the band. I'm a big fan of the first albums but DAMN they evolve et it's so good, if i want some folk epic pagan i got 100 other bands who are fucking good at this, go listen and discover them !

Vielleicht wäre es klug gewesen Equillibrium ab einem gewissen Zeitpunkt einen neuen Namen zu geben, dann wären die Vergleiche vlt nicht so hart, der Sound ist halt schon ziemlich anders als früher. Als eigenständige neue Band finde ich eure Musik echt gut, halt Equilibirum 2.0 :)

Ne Leute, leider echt nicht. Alles irgendwie so austauschbar, klingt alles recht ähnlich wie andere neue Songs, die ganzen früher wirklich genialen Melodien und Riffs fehlen komplett, vom Folk-Teil der die ganze Essenz der Band war mal abgesehen. Robses Stimme fehlt, das Gescreame jetzt ist auch 08/15...als ob man eine komplett neue Band hat. Hätte man René vor ein paar Jahren das Lied vorgespielt, er wäre niemals auf Equilibrium gekommen. Ich bin wirklich kein Hater, ich will es ja mögen und habe alle Alben im CD- und LP-Regal stehen, aber das jetzt hat leider absolut gar nichts mehr mit Equilibrium zu tun. Das ist so als ob Amon Amarth jetzt mit einem Reggae-Album ankommen würde. Equilibrium ist leider vor einigen Jahren gestorben.
