OMGs this so spot on! I once knew somebody at at a barn in Southern California I worked at who would have Evian water shipped in for her horses because the water every other horse drank there wasn't good enough for her 'special boy'. To me, that's having more dollars than sense (cents). lol

I was a poor equestrian who had a friend that is a rich equestrian. Nomatter how much more she spent she could never beat me and her kid could never beat my kids in competition. It's so funny to see their faces when money doesn't win 1st place.

I've got an expensive dressage horse now, used to ride a recovering thoroughbred that only costed her last vet bill cause her previous owner needed to cover the fee. Gosh I miss it honestly, I can't stand the stuffiness. I loved fuzzy shows, riding every discipline under the sun, 24/7 turnout and not feeling pressured like you "need" every bell and whistle imaginable for your horse to be ok...

this is how I feel with my $25 BLM mustang at boarding places. its like...yeah he doesn't take grain, no shoes, no stall, no blanket unless its below freezing, and he's a freaking tank. and then the rich boarders with their show horses treating them like royalty lol

Yeah. Just get a $30 wheelbarrow from Walmart, Home Depot, etc. The rest of the money can go to other things. I like to stretch the money out as opposed to latest and greatest. So, now you got me curious... What is the difference between that $300 wheelbarrow compared to ones you see at big box stores?

@@albertw251 Honestly, couldn't tell you for sure! I didn't buy it. From what I can tell, the wheel is bigger and thicker, and it sits higher up than most typical wheelbarrows. But otherwise I don't know. Maybe it's made of pixie dust or something so it lasts longer?

Feel like the rich equestrian is the kind of rich person that treats it like a "hobby" (among there assuredly many others), while an actual old money equestrian raised on the practice probably takes it a LOT more seriously and with more genuine investment. Basically, the ones that treat it like a hobby want to be "seen" as higher in status, but lack the dedication and treat it as something to throw money at.
