There are a couple of "Dressage vs Western" videos where riders from each discipline come out on their horses, perform a little, then switch horses and work in the other discipline. They are fun videos and basically prove that good riding is good riding, no matter what style you prefer.

The thing about Western saddles is that they can be used for longer rides and work. English saddles are good for jumping and dressage. For me, English saddles are more comfortable and I’m used to them. I’ve done pole bending before, but on an English saddle and at a walk. I haven’t done it at a trot yet.

I ride both but mostly Western so just a bit of advice if you ever wanted to ride Western again 1. He may be confused when you're riding because he can't feel you as well as he can with an English saddle, so try to keep a little more contact through the leg 2. Your rein was a little short at certain points, which I get because you're an English rider, but if you were on a Western trained horse it would probably be very uncomfortable or confused at that length Other than that, great job!
