Hi, I was looking for a 'different' set up for my Nox800, as I have been going through a barren period for some time and was beginning to get disenchanted. Why I didn't reset my machine before God only knows. I changed to your suggested settings on Saturday night before our regular Sunday Rally (smelly cut maze field!). Hole 1 - scrap tin; Hole 2 - scrap tin; Hole 3 - 1560 Lizzy Groat. Followed this up later in the morning with a lovely Queen Victoria Shilling 1898. Thanks for the suggestions! Cant wait to get back out there.

Sorry to say i prefer the 800 over the 900. They added more VDI numbers to the nox 900 and it makes it too sparky/unstable -19 to 99. Ive heard nothing but people going back to the 800 that has a vdi range of -9 to 40. Imagine a hammered coin on the 800 flickering between vdi numbers 16 and 17. On the 900 the flicking of numbers is greater, say jumpy between 60 and 75 on the vdi, making the signal more iffy and confusing on the nox 900. The 800 is better in my opinion mate.

Hi tell me something I have been using this setting since I seen it 6 months ago, And I am only saying not complaining for your help. but I have found nothing but trash lead, copper tinfoil bits of minute tin. Now not only on this setting but on my other field setting is the same solid numbers right round 360 degree and still trash. Any help would be appreciatted. I have been detecting in cut barley fields and also pastured fields

If you are digging all those things then u are doing OK, , copper, lead and foil are part of metal detecting and i also dig tonnes of the stuff, but one day that lead signal will be a magical coin! It is all about location too, where are u based?

Hi mate, im not so sure about the 900, ive not owed one. But ive heard a few complaints on the field by people who actually preferred the 800 to the 900. I dont know if minelab have messed with the 900 and made it abit too sparky or whatever, but the last bloke i met was swapping his 900 back for an 800. The 900 has better build quality. But its not about that at the end of the day. I cant answer for sure until ive used one for a few months. But i am sticking with my nox 800 for sure

the nox 600 doesn't have the back menu options available like when you hold the setting button in. buy once you get your 600 set up just right, it can be just as good as the 800. my nephew uses the 600 with the minelab big coil and he can winkle out little roman minums on heavy iron ground. you just need to play with it 👍

I detect with the full horseshoe for a couple of reasons. I like my machine hot, so i hear everything that is going on in the ground, and the other reason is identifying big iron/steel. I need the grunt to identify big iron.

I have some of my setting set a bit different, but totally agree to hunt with horseshoe on, and iron volume at 1. The more discrimination you add to the machine, the more chance you have of missing good targets...

I've had the 800 for a couple of months so still not used to it by any means. I'm going to set it up like yours and see how I go. Cheers
