Thanks for this! My lady's equinox keeps doing this. A mechanic thought he'd have to replace the ignition tumbler itself. I can do this job and probably make her happy in the process.

I have an 09 equinox where most of the time you have to turn the key multiple times to get the car to start. It’s not getting the signal that I have turned the key to engage the starter or alternator. I figured it would be something with the ignition, sometimes it takes 10-15 key turns and others it starts the first time. Would this be the part I should replace?

This would probably not be the part to fix the issue you are experiencing. The only thing this part does is release the key. Thanks for watching.

In my case it was the microswitch at the shifter that was faulty instead of the solenoid. I would check that as a first step.

How did you check if the shifter microswitch was the problem? I am having this exact issue and was gonna replace the solenoid which is like $25 on Rockauto, but would like to try and check the microswitch

I just got a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox and my key keeps getting stuck too. There is a button next to the switch gears and when i press on it it says on my screen s/t is unlocked and then it realeases it.😮

I did the replacement. And it worked, key no longer gets stuck BUT immediately after replacement something vibrates on the rear door for a few seconds and it stops but it comes back a few seconds later Any idea what it is? Also if I leave the door open it won’t do it

Biggest piece of junk Chevrolet ever made. Mine has been doing it for years but now it's getting worse. I don't know if it's the part you replaced or as another poster mentioned a switch in the gear shifter. And just this week while trying to start the car there is an intermittent problem with the starter not disengaging. From what I've read it's some electronic part. $$$$$$

@@funbro1 Mine just turned over to 100k and I've been having problems since 45,000. As of last week there's an intermittent problem where the engine won't stop trying to start when you turn the key. This week another intermittent problem that I'm sure is related to the other problem, the engine wants to keep running when you turn it off. Going to a mechanic today. I could list at least 20 problems I've had since 45k.
