You are awesome. The battery on Cobalt took a dump; I called AAA to jump it, and it was barely holding the charge. I moved the car to a different spot, shut it off, and then made the stupid mistake of trying to start at to see if the battery held. Of course, it didn’t - but then the key got stuck. Your video had that key out in under 10 seconds. Thank you again!

Thank you so much for this video. After being parked for a month my key got stuck in the ignition with a dead battery. To make matters worse the car was in my single car garage and my battery charger wouldn't charge the battery with the key stuck in the ACC position. Once I got the key out I was able to charge the battery and get it back on the road.

They key instantly locked in the ignition. Couldn't open the trunk with no power to get to the battery or the latches to release the back seats! I was like WTF! So your video saved me from ripping out the back seats like the HULK!! Thanks again!

I was inside my vehicle with windows rolled up in 100 degree weather at a red light. The car stopped, battery died without warning and just got the battery two weeks ago, and then the key was stuck in the ignition. I was concerned with how to get out the car. Everyone passing didn’t realize I was stuck inside. Is there a way to unlock the doors if the lock only unlocks when the battery is charged and you pull the door handle? I was panicking on the phone with 911, the fireman couldn’t get the street right. I got out by god because I looked over grabbing the door handle the millionth time that was locked and then all of a sudden it was unlock, I don’t know how honestly.

This video shows up if you look up the same issue on a Chevy Malibu. For those who are curious on a 2013 Malibu,there’s a little hole underneath the steering wheel near the ignition. Where you can put a screen driver and push towards the ignition for the manual release. I spent a long time looking for it in the wrong place. Hoping to save someone some time.

YHWH and Yeshua bless you for discussing this release button. I was dealing with a 2007 nissan murano and couldn't find any info on where such a button/lever was located. So i pried open the compartment under the steering wheel- nearest that I could find to the ignition- and blindly just stuck my finger up as close as I could to it. Eventually I found something very tiny to the left of the ignition that just popped in and stayed popped in. I suppose it will pop back out once I jump the car tomorrow. Battery drained with the key left in there like you said. But yeah, blessings! PS- what do you officially call this button? ------- UPDATE I understood there to be an electrical issue, so I began checking fuses. Another video mentioned that nissans get a lot of power from the positive battery terminal and therefore cause electrical failures. But I didn't know how to check this. Regardless, some people came by and said it was the "positive terminal battery fuse" or "battery fuse" after all that needed to be swapped. During their test of this fuse, the car turned on briefly and then locked the key in the ignition again. Your trick worked like a charm again. Thanks.

What happens when the button is already down? Took the ignition out, nothing wrong with key or cylinder, but the switch behind it can’t turn all the way off, shifter in park and seemingly recognizing it since the white button is down on its own, and vehicle has plenty of battery power, so no reason to believe it’s stuck due to low voltage. I legitimately can’t get it to go off and there is no visible reason why this is
