The Equinox wastegate is a component of the turbocharging system found in certain Chevrolet Equinox models equipped with a turbocharged engine. The wastegate is responsible for controlling the amount of exhaust gas that flows through the turbocharger, thereby regulating the turbo boost pressure. It is essentially a valve that opens and closes to divert exhaust gases away from the turbine wheel when the desired boost pressure has been reached. By doing so, the wastegate prevents the turbocharger from spinning too fast and potentially causing damage.
