Great work, must be a blast. What engine are you using? The stock 1800cc?
@davidrussellwilks5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your message, It's an 1800 straight 4 but bored out to 1852cc, various engine mods such as steel crank and rods, power is around 160BHP at the wheels. There is a good page here that covers many details for the car. www.britishracecar.com/DavidRussellWilks-MG-MGB.htm

I know this was a long time ago, but your car is really nice. A question, where would a complete novice start to learn? I fancy renovating an old mg but know nothing at all really about cars.

What happened to that white TVR?

I'm not sure it was a few years ago now. The car car is still racing with the series

What pedal box are you using?
@davidrussellwilks3 жыл бұрын
It is just a standard MGB pedal box, the accelerator pedal is from a later rubber bumper MGB. I drilled the brake and clutch pedals to lighten them slightly.

A bit "soft" on the corner entry and exit, needs to grow some cajones and go "balls in"
@davidrussellwilks3 жыл бұрын
Don't forget to post some of your own race videos so we can see how it should be done?

@@davidrussellwilks You're braking too early, and hitting the corner apex too early, which impacts your exist speed, you need to go in deeper to the corners before "tapping" the brake, "balls in" - you only need to tap the brake to keep the car balanced, and carry momentum through the corner to optimise exit speed. The fancy foot shuffling of heel and toe is a waste of time and total BS and busy brain overload, just pivot off the heel. If you hit the apex too early you'll come out of the corner too wide and still be in the "curve" of the corner and visa verse. You need to be exiting just as the corner opens up for maximum power and grip into the straight. Pick up "your apex" just past TDC of the corner. Suggest you read "The Technique of Motor Racing" by Piero Tarrifi which details cornering technique. Suggest also you read Moss on how he describes racing at Monaco. Keep it smooth. I was fortunate to have Moss, Brabham, and Tauranac as mentors. Best of Luck.

@@davidrussellwilks another "tip" Grasshopper - "Hands follow the Eyes" - hand | eye co-ordination - wherever the eye goes the hand follows - if you look "through" the corner the hands will naturally steer the car in the direction where the eyes are focused. ....
