My wife and I have done many bikepacking adventures here in Oz as well the Alps2Ocean, NZ South Island. I've never been fan of panniers really, mostly because the way they change the ride dynamics. We use a combination of Ortlieb bags and BikeBagDude bikepacking bags. I've just now watched your video of the Tasmanian Trail which we did last year, and like u, south to north (which was MUCH tougher than the A2O Trail!). Bikepacking bags means u probably have to pack more spartan but then the weight is kept lowest as possible which is probably advantageous hiker biking, negotiating bike and gear over rocks, across rivers etc. Perhaps food for thought for future trips. PS: Enjoying your videos too!

Love your channel, and as you come out of winter, and Canada goes into winter, my hope is you guys will be back on your bikes for not only entertainment but learning what works, gear, challenges, etc. etc. Hope you are well, Davey.

I think it's great that you use regular mid-range bikes because there's quite a misrepresentation on KZbin of everyone having fancy bikes but it's really unnecessary. A lot of people actually avoid padded shorts for bikepacking because they get so sweaty and they can actually make the pain so much worse from the chafing. Cotton briefs and running shorts are the only thing I'll ride in when it's warm out.

Yeah definitely, I was worried our bikes wouldn’t be good enough eg, stock pedals, stock saddle etc. but it was completely fine. It’s maybe not as comfortable, but not to worry as it’s all part of the adventure 😅

Thank you for your videos! I’m planning my trip in NZ and thinking of biking camping. I’d like to land and get my bike and get on the road. Where did you get the bikes? Did you order them or buy what the shop had in store? Thank you 🙏
