out of all of the things carter went through, the stillborn story line was the hardest to watch.

As I'm rewatching ER again, I can't help but think that let's face it, Carter went through hell and back several times during the series. Espically during this episode with their son being stillborn. But one of the things I always admired about him, and one of the many reasons he was and still is my favorite, is that he always came out the other side that much stronger than he was before.

I LOVE that they had Carter's dad come back to be there for him, having lost a son himself, and knowing how much HARDER it was for Carter because he never got to meet his son, but that he loved him as much as he loves John and Bobby.

They did excel at that sometimes. I thought so too with father and son Carter (nose, eyes, eyebrows especially). Paul Freeman really looks like he could be Alex Kingston's dad as well.

It isn’t right that he was having a baby with the wrong person, either 🥹 He deserved better and when we really think about it … things seemed to imply that the loss of the child was entirely Kem’s fault, not John’s… she wasn’t taking good care of herself; she was all too reluctant to drink that orange juice when John wanted her to, she was rather rude to John when he asked her about keeping track of her kick counts - pretty much as soon as Kem said no the way she did … it happened … the baby stopped kicking 😔 It was like God was saying: “Well, if you’re going to behave like that … you’re not getting a baby…” That’s exactly what happened … and John Carter suffered more and was left in anguish when Kem just runs away! Ugh… I hate her; she’s like the Yoko Ono of the ER 😢💔

I just watched the whole "Midnight" episode. I never saw it when it first aired, or in any reruns. I just kept missing it. I can see now how Carter and Kem were never completely healed from the loss of their son. This episode brings out what so many parents feel when they lose their baby before full term. Just devastating.

Michael Gross is a very good actor. Surprised he did not get more roles especially since this father role in ER was so different than his Steven Keaton - Family Ties role
@joemckim11834 жыл бұрын
He looks a lot different with a shaved face too, enough different that I don't automatically assume its Steven Keaton appearing on ER.

A psychiatrist on _The Affair_ was also played by Michael Gross - actually he played Maura Tierney's character's (Helen Solloway) psychiatrist - so those scenes were actually an _E. R._ reunion. 😀
