One reason why scenes such as this one affect us so deeply is because we always find some way that we could have done better as a parent, a child or a sibling. No one has a perfect record.

Your comment really spoke to me. I have one child and regrets piled on that relationship.

@@michele21auntiem The funny thing is that we sometimes put the good things aside and place our attention on the times we have failed. Be sure to remember the good ones too. And, speaking from my own experiences, don't let the new opportunities get away from you.

Interesting example of how, in the end, we don’t regret the things we did do in our past - we regret the things we didn’t do...

@@BuzzLightyear9999 Memories of so-called "sins of omission." Yes, I have a few of those tugging at me every once in a while. For me they are much harder when they involve people who are no longer alive. When there is still a chance to make some kind of correction I think of Nike's "Just Do It."

Mary McDonnell just perfect, as always!!!

I loved her in "Grand Canyon" -- she covered a wide range of human emotions and vulnerabilities in that role. And she was fun in "Sneakers."

Of course, we all remember her in "Dances with Wolves." And she's great in the lead role of "Major Crimes" on TV- they needed a strong female lead after Kyra Sedgwick left. I love Mary McDonnell in anything I've ever seen her in, and this show had the clout and salary money to attract some of the very best.

She also played the president in Battlestar Galactica. I didn't like her character but she did a good job playing the part.
