The reason Frieren didn't pass is because she's weak for an elf that has lived more than 1000yrs . Fern passed because she has alot of potential due to the fact that she's only 18 yet this strong

@@Bumiround No, it's mainly about her power which connects to the fact that Frieren wastes her time on things that are seen as pointless. If Frieren was as strong as an average elf her age then she would have passed . Frieren herself understands this and says multiple times that Series intuition is always right

I cannot fathom Frieren being considered weak but what you are saying makes sense. Maybe by an elf’s standard maybe she is weak. Frieren seems to trust Series opinion so maybe it is true. For sure though Serie does not like Frierens favorite spell. 😂

@@DipDownAnime I think the bigger reason is that Serie just hates the way Frieren views magic. Serie seems to be all about ambition and drive, while Frieren just wants to wander around learning spells. Frieren could be twice as strong and I think Serie would still have failed her.

@@MC-yt1uv This exactly. That was really the reason for failing her, not because she was weak for an elf. Serie still gave her an opportunity by asking her what her favorite spell was but was disappointed with the answer. They both just have a different vision of magic and what a mage should be.

9:23 in this scene Serie mentioned Lernen have possibility of beat Frieren, but ppl forget Aura has also possibility of kill Frieren. in ep10, Frieren said if Aura kept attacking with her army she might lost.

good point, but the significant difference is that Lernen is skilled enough to tell at a glance she's suppressing her mana, already giving him much higher prospects of beating Frieren than Aura

serie is doing them a big favor by rejecting so many of them, they are clearly not ready and making them first class mages would be just sending them to their deaths if you think frieren's spectacle last episode is the peak of power that you will see in the series going forward then you are gravely mistaken

You bring up a good point. When Serie said they passed basically because Frieren carried them it really made sense. With that being the case it wouldn’t be right to let them pass. Really!?!? Frieren was killing it! I cannot imagine more. Can’t wait.

It seemed to me like Serie was saying she was disappointed in her human students because, no matter how talented, they kept dying before they could reach her level. Combined with the way she reminisced about Flamme while claiming she only trained her on a whim, and I get the impression that she cares more than she'll admit.

Tbf, First class mage is a rank in the company so it's not only about the strenght but the perspective too. Frieren skill is no doubt the top class but perspective is also important for getting something like professional license. Frieren is opposite from Serie so it's normal that Frieren can't pass.

If that was the case then Fern being Frierens student would have failed no matter what . Series simply just didn't compare Frierens strength to humans, she compare it to elfs that have lived just as long

@@Anne-mn9fs They're a differnt race that's the point. Even if they have the same kind of perspective Human still developed faster and might be able to reach the point that even some elf can't reach especially with someone with this much talent like Fern.
