“Apenas expresamos algo lo empobrecemos singularmente. Creemos que nos hemos sumergido en las profundidades de los abismos y cuando volvemos a la superficie la gota de agua que pende de la pálida punta de nuestros dedos ya no se parece al mar del que procede.

BASE Art Gallery acoge la exposición individual del artista urbano contemporáneo Germán Bel, más conocido por Fasim, con una selección de la última serie en la que el pintor barcelonés ha estado trabajando desde el inicio de la pandemia, aunque se gestara en años anteriores.
Las obras presentadas son de una gran inspiración urbana que, bajo el título de ‘erased landscapes’ (los paisajes borrados), engloban y combinan conceptos junto a elementos pictóricos tales como: la evocación al tema del paisaje, la crítica social, la búsqueda identitaria del color o la percepción pareidólica sobre el entorno urbano que caracteriza toda la producción del artista con una personal, contemplativa y meditativa visión de la humanidad.
Germán nos sugiere que la inspiración de esta serie surgió de la observación de los muros de las ciudades en su ir y venir por ellas: firmas de graffiti y borrados, escritos diversos, carteles pegados y arrancados o dibujos de niños entre otras muchas manifestaciones gráficas que los muros de nuestras ciudades acumulan por la frenética fricción y febril actividad humana, en una enmarañada amalgama de intenciones y sentimientos, en las que el pintor percibe abstractos paisajes fortuitos, fruto de la educación de la mirada hacia la experiencia pareidolica-apofénica-hierofánica* que practica desde que era niño a modo de divertimento.
Una mirada humanista contemporánea no exenta de autocrítica, en un juego de miradas donde las apariencias de las formas dejan entrever intenciones de un calado más profundo.

BASE Art Gallery hosts the solo exhibition of contemporary urban artist German Bel, better known as Fasim, with a selection of the latest series in which the Barcelona painter has been working since the beginning of the pandemic, although it was conceived in previous years.
The works presented are of great urban inspiration that, under the title of 'erased landscapes', encompass and combine concepts and pictorial elements such as: the evocation of the landscape theme, social criticism, the search for identity in color or the pareidolic perception of the urban environment that characterizes the artist's entire production with a personal, contemplative and meditative vision of humanity.
Germán suggests that the inspiration for this series came from observing the walls of the cities as he came and went through them: Graffiti signatures and erasures, diverse writings, pasted and torn posters or children's drawings among many other graphic manifestations that the walls of our cities accumulate by the frenetic friction and feverish human activity, in a tangled amalgam of intentions and feelings, in which the painter perceives abstract fortuitous landscapes, fruit of the education of the look towards the pareidolical-apophenical-hierophanic* experience that he practices since he was a child by way of amusement.
A contemporary humanist look not exempt of self-criticism, in a game of looks where the appearances of the forms let glimpse intentions of a deeper depth.
