How amazing! Although I can't travel to see this exhibit, I was able to walk through it with such loving attention of the curators. Thank you so much.

This video is an absolute education. Before watching it I had some awareness of Homer's work but this Met 'tour' hosted by two knowledgable curators/experts makes a powerful case for the greatness of this artist. For me personally the 'Crosscurrents' exhibition is an absolute 'must see' and if not in New York, then certainly in London when it travels here. Thanks to the Met for organizing the show and for this enlightening video🙏.

Winslow Homer's art brings me to the east coast of the US, more than that, it brings me the feeling of being on the US east coast.

Homer's subjects are so different from Vermeer, but that's the only comparison I can make. He handles light the same way Vermeer did. Incredible, incredible artist.

Can’t believe you admitted homer left his paintings ambiguous in meaning.Because wow WOW you sure have imagined a ridiculous amount of story to some of those paintings. Just let the viewers decide!!!

Very interesting presentation - but the idea that a visitor to the Met can stand 12 feet back from a painting to admire it, without having their view blocked by other visitors, is laughable, and proof that curators have no idea what it’s like for civilians to take in a show at the Met. Looking forward to seeing it anyway …

I absolutely LOATHE the presentation by flitting from one painting to another, and commentary which demands precedence over what should be a viewer's own enjoyment of the paintings.

I wish there were a way for these folks to talk about art that dispensed with the fawning, dramatic serious almost pious quality. Blech. The artist is interesting. The art is interesting. Conversations about art can be fun and enlivening. But these 2 are deadly. Please Met, you can do better.

These women probably went to an old rabbinical Yeshiva, where they learn to read in a text a lot more than what was written, then apply these silly and some times senseless hermeneutic to these amazing paintings. I wonder what Homer would say if he could hear their conversation. This moves me to be sure all my paintings have a clear description written behind each one, so centuries later the students of these women don't read or see what is not there No even a Kabbalist preacher could come up with their absurd interpretations.
