James Baskett happened to be the star of Song of the South. Which only leaves me with the conclusion if he was racist, he was really bad at being one. Just a couple of things: The Frog and Pig show line is also a play on the disrespectful phrase "dog and pony show", to talk about cheap theatrics. For the part about "strings", the word Muppet is actually a portmanteau of marionette (with strings), and puppet(without). Their bottom is controlled by hand, but their arms, and some other parts were often controlled with sticks or strings.

I think I understand the reason they mentioned puppet on a string in Jim's verse. Notice how they mentioned how he's gonna need "Avenging" right after that? Well, in the trailer for Avengers 2: Age of Ultron, the song that plays is an edited Pinochio's theme, signifying that Ultron is no longer a puppet (as in a tool), as he cut off his "strings" and started to think for himself. It's the closest I can think of that relates to Stan Lee's work. Thumbs up if you think I have the right idea. Coincidentally, they mentioned "vision" shortly after, Vision is the name they gave to the body created for J.A.R.V.I.S., the AI who helped them stop Ultron.

Something to consider... the actor who played Mr. Hooper was someone impacted by the Hollywood Blacklists / House Unamerican Investigations / McCarthy Investigations. The company producing Sesame Street (Pre Children's Television Workshop) didn't want him because of that but one of the people in charge of casting DID. The company relented basically said 'this is on you if it goes poorly', and he was hired. He was immensely loved. I literally grew up with Sesame Street, we were born the same year. I still remember when Mr. Hooper died. I still get sad at that moment. But they helped us kids learn how to deal with the loss of someone who simply isn't coming back again.... ever. So that Put You Out To Pasture line was worse than you thought: it was like saying not only will Henson be dead, but everyone will just be told he was sent away, but never to have the dignity of letting people know what REALLY happened to him.

I always really appreciated the acting and directing choices of Henson's first verse more than the actual lyrical content and rapping style/flow. Which is to say: I think that's what they focused on. I liked this better than trying to shoe-horn in uncharacteristic "hard gangsta rap" aspects into someone who it was wrong for (like they did with Mr. Rogers, being an earlier season). Henson's interaction with Kermit was really nice, especially where you can see that he isn't trying to ventriliquize (is that a word?) but continues speaking all of the lines Kermit delivers. Them dancing in the background was just sweet, Kermit acting out signing a page was really well done, and I love how he walks off frame in Henson's second verse. That all just felt RIGHT for the character. Also, I'm disappointed you didn't tackle Disney's "juggernaught of stacking knots unstoppably," because I've never really figured out an explanation for that line I was satisfied with. Like, the Juggernaught (Juggernaut?) is a Marvel character, and he's unstoppable, sure; but why are you stacking knots? Is that really a flex?

But Stan got them both to do a special appearance for some kid for something like the Make a Wish Foundation or something similar to it, I think. ERB made an insanely clever Biblical reference to the end of days and a brilliant lyrical foreshadowing to that sunset at noon line. Amos 8:9 states: “In that day,” declares the Sovereign LORD, “I will make the sun go down at noon and darken the earth in broad daylight. This becomes ironic, as both men are then interrupted by the founder of the ‘morally purest’ company of them all-Walt Disney. However, his entrance suggests he is synonymous with the creative “Antichrist”. As per the Biblical verse in Revelations 20:1 "And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.” Disney appears the background goes completely dark, and there are explosions.
