Merry Christmas! My father learnt to fly in an air coupe in 1965 at Biggin Hill. He later taught me to fly his Wassmer Baladou in 1970. My other brother learnt to navigate in his Chipmunk.

That is a one beautiful Ercoupe... I see you fly at 9000'-9500' range. Do you have a preferred waypoints to follow to KTVL or is that altitude giving you enough clearance over the peaks on the way?

Thanks, capt Davis. We were originally going to Truckee, but we don't hear the AWOS until about 10 miles out, and at that point, we discovered that it was fogged in. Rather than turning around, we decided to head to TVL. And we navigated visually, just following the lowest terrain, and pass over to the lake. 9.5 was plenty OK for whatever pass it was we went through.
