You're one of the few people who remembered the little girl!!! Most reactors seem to miss that or at least don't comment on it. Keep her in the back of your mind for later :)

The basement is all the way outside of Wall Maria, the wall that fell five years ago - over 100km away through Titan territory. It’s quite a trip, even as a Titan I think. Also, in slight defense of Eren, I think he is entirely aware of how much Mikasa cares, but objects to the expression of her caring since it’s usually in the form of ‘don’t do that it’s dangerous do what I say’. Understandably Mikasa wants to protect him, but she has better luck with ‘fine, I’m going too’ than attempts to suppress or control him. Eren’s not big on being controlled or bossed around, and definitely resents being made to feel like Mikasa thinks he’s weak or helpless.

I think it also comes from Eren takes his duties serious and Mikasa disobeying her orders to 'protect him' is counter to that. Not to mention that it puts other people at risk for his sake and I think he's very much trying to get her to see reason as she can be a bit blind when it comes to Eren and prioritises him above all else.
@DrSophieDarlingReacts3 сағат бұрын
@@vincentvieille5996 I think there can be more than 1 explanation as to his reasoning. It could be that AS WELL as not wanting Mikasa to sacrifice her orders for his sake and to abide by what she's been told to do. It's not an either / or scenario :)
@BeyondTrash-xe1vs2 сағат бұрын
@@DrSophieDarlingReactsThat's a good observation too, everytime Eren's chastising her in these episodes, it's because she wants to ignore her orders to support him. I very much think these are all accurate reasons why Eren reacts like this.

11:04 Pixis practically said all people who are leaving, should be leaving with the thought that , with that their own family is most likely to get eaten because if nobody is fighting now there will not be anything left to go back home to. Pixis was kind of “reversed manipulated” them to stay, very smart
@DrSophieDarlingReacts2 сағат бұрын
Yes, but he's also not wrong in what he's saying. There is truth to it as blunt as it may be. The more people that leave, the less hands they have to fight the Titans and by default, the less likely they are to succeed. I like Pixis!

To be fair to Eren during this whole Trost time, they are part of an organized military and are given these posts and squads at the start. Mikasa was more than willing to forgo any of that just to be at his side. Sure it's to help protect him, but Eren is more focused on them all doing their jobs to protect everyone in Trost and fight back against the titans. I've always seen it as him trying to get her to get on the same page as him rather than being selfish and thinking only of herself (which is only thinking about Eren). In THIS episode though it just happens to work out since the elite team is going with Eren lol.

The thing with Eren is that although he is determined and wants to do good, he is kind of a brat. He hates any kind of control (he hated his mother also for stopping him from survey corps) so that's built into his personality. This nature feels really great in context of something big as 'fighting for freedom' but not really pleasant for normal human interactions.
@tjws2552 сағат бұрын
I wouldn't say he hated his mother. He just didn't like that she was controlling him.

he cant support being protected.. his surname by Jean is suicidal maniac.. (or something like that, I don't know how it's said in English or Japanese)

Eren at the end. I had pretty much the same reaction you did. But the next episodes clears that up.
@tjws2552 сағат бұрын
The thing I see with Eren about his interaction with Mikasa is kinda a mix of a few things. He wants her to be on the wall for her safety, he's mad because she is overprotective of him, and she makes him feel weak and helpless. Also she needs to focus on her orders and not him. But he drops it after Ian gave the order to be on the team to protect him. Though I do think Eren is fully aware that Mikasa is just looking out for him and that she can take care of herself. I do think in his own way appreciates it. But he can be a little too angry at times. And he should treat her a little better in these kinds of moments.

16:07 also be careful not to miss dialogue when talking, the commander told Mikasa to be part of the team guarding Eren ( cuz she is very strong) , right after Mikasa and Eren had that argument, so Mikasa is happy to be by his side in this mission

That's not confirmed about the inner circle only Wall Rose, and from what we've seen - there's a lavish abundance within Wall Sina so what's being insinuated in the writing and imagery is that the inner circle didn't want to give up some of their supplies in order to help the influx of refugees into Wall Rose. Hence the discontent that occurred and the willingness to just cull the population without care as it meant not sacrificing their own resources for the greater good. It's very common unfortunately in autocratic societies. The great thing about this show is that it encourages you to read between the lines and to look at what they are showing you, and what you glimpse in dialogue, rather than what you are being explicitly told :)
@DrSophieDarlingReacts2 сағат бұрын
@@vincentvieille5996 Again, I'm looking at these as 2 separate pieces of media. The anime is not likely to follow strictly the manga and therefore I am going off what is being displayed here. The imagery and the writing is up for interpretation. There's also quite a lot of spoilers in your comment. Thankfully I have seen up to that point but if I hadn't - I would have been extremely annoyed. And no - food shortages in Wall Rose was only part of the issue. There is no mention of food shortages in the inner circle and we have seen, again, abundance of riches and food to the point that it is excessive indicating that there is clearly a surplus rather than a lack off. This show is telling you things without needing to believe everything as it is specified.

Cannon fodder or cannon fodder for the titans. I don't know how to say it in English but... it seems like a very good job for untrained people.

@@DrSophieDarlingReacts Isayama's (the author) politics has been in question for years now, I'm very critical of him too but I don't believe whatever his beliefs are on these topics, it seeps into AOT much even pixis for example, you wouldn't know this unless u looked it up, the story doesn't glorify anything. There's some questionable things later on but I can't talk about them because of spoilers Anyways aot is a really great piece of media regardless, u don't need to worry much about this stuff for now

@@shan_2933 I'm always interested in how writing is influenced by the authors experiences and background so once I've finished the series - it'll be interesting to research into it and do a comparative analysis of his political beliefs with what I glimpse in AOT as it would be a great way to track themes or where the show diverts from the writers belief system and why that may be etc.

@@DrSophieDarlingReacts I have done quite a lot of research into this myself and man it's so hard to talk about stuff so vaguely but i gotta tell u it'll get really draining, at this point I can't think of aot without being exhausted lol. Btw unrelated but I miss the post episode talk/analysis that u did in the earlier episodes, it's possible that you didn't find much to talk about but just ending with a simple remark about eren and Mikasa doesn't seem right. (I'm sorry if this is unfair, u have raised the bar yourself)

@@shan_2933 Not every episode is going to allow room for talk/analysis which I've mentioned in previous videos. Some will be shorter because there isn't really much to discuss. Similar to episodes that are very battle heavy. This video is setting up for something bigger so there's not a lot to talk about in it because not a lot happens other than planning for Eren to turn into a Titan and the inevitable turn on Mikasa. There are episodes where I have a lot to talk about and discuss because there's a lot of undercurrents for the story going forward, significant character development, or larger themes coming into play. I'd rather talk about what I can discuss than force myself to blather about nothing for the sake of it if that makes sense?
