This is one of those episodes that reminds you Eren really was a decent person, had his humanity and did not want to lose it. It was forced out of him. Forced out of him because he was their titan, their tool. He is one to go to the extreme so once he lost that humanity he never turned back.

I agree, people always say Eren was too edgy but rewatching season 1 he was definitely naive and much more innocent. After all the death, failure and betrayal, its no surprise he is the way he is in season 4.

Which is why I never agreed w the “Eren is a Psychopath” takes. He is an extremist. Both ways good and evil. He cares deeply about his friends he’s willing to go to extremes to save them

@@remphz3321he is objectively the villain now, but I agree, even with doing the Rumbling, I don’t consider him a psychopath at all. He doesn’t take pleasure in it at all, he very clearly has stated that he thinks he’s a monster and is disgusted with what he’s doing, and as we saw in SP1, he was literally crying and holding Ramzi. This isn’t how a psychopath acts. What he is doing is beyond horrific, but he has always been a person that takes everything to the extreme. If anything you could say he has emotional/anger issues that combined with trust issues and seeing some of the worst of humanity have turned him into an extremist. But the psychopath take is just plain wrong. I don’t agree with what he’s doing but I 100% understand his thought process and how he has come to this decision.

WIT Studio was smoking some seriously good weed when they were adapting AOT because they were perfect with the animation, sound track and even the voice actors were a perfect fits

rewatching season 1 is a trip. so many moments that shaped s4 eren's ideology, especially this episode. its such a shame that erwin died so soon. in a way theyre very similar, both taking on the role of the devil to achieve their goals. erwin wouldve been the one person able to talk eren out of the rumbling or at least come up with an equally devilish solution that doesnt involve destroying 80% of the world
