Nice video. The sped-up video with clear narration worked really well for the topic at hand. It looks like a significant amount of work went into making that plane. I've bought a few user-made planes that are asymmetric and unique, presumably to match the original user's hand and holding preferences. The level of wear on them shows that they got a lot of use. Can we get a short or 2 showing that beast being put to use?

Great project! I built a no 6 (18") size jointer with Rex Krueger plans, using the frog from a no 5 and it works really well. I never thought about having a narrow jointer as you explain, but it makes perfect sense. 👍

Besides making a cool plane, you rocked with those chisel's!
@BatCaveCreations
@BatCaveCreations 6 ай бұрын
Thank you! It's taken alot of practice tbh and I think the quality of the chisel helped alot. I started with dark brown narex and thought it was a me problem but the chisels never held an edge. Maybe I got a bad set. Either way I worked my way up to a quality set and it does make a big difference!

Very nice idea and I need to make one now. I don't have access to a mechanism but I can probably build it in the Krenov style because LV sells narrow blade sets for them.

Fantastic work, dude! Really well done! 😃 I don't have problems with my hands, but I have a LOT of problems with my shoulders... Lots of pain... Because of this I can't use western saws, but I can easily use Japanese saws. You know? You can hold with both of your hands, use your body and so on... So, I really liked about what you said about number 3 planes... I am from Brazil and I live in a small city, so it's not easy to find older planes... Nor new ones, actually. To buy one of the US brands here would cost me a liver, if not more! So I'm going to need to make my own planes... Which I'm going to do with laminations at first. You know? And there are pretty good and cheap irons from China, which is what I'm going to end up using. And now I'm really considering thinner irons, like the number 3... Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
