Hey Michael you can buy a spaghetti/noodle server,it’s like a long handled claw,so much easier than trying to serve noodles with the wooden server. You can get them in a large Tesco,just make sure you get the metal ones as opposed to to a plastic one. Happy New Year to you all. New subscriber!

Hi Sarah, they are simple to use, based on aircraft design and have a low centre of gravity. They hold their value too their retro design.

Good one, its great that you appreciate the great out doors. If it was a really bad electrical storm I would not hesitate to "rough it" in the car for an hour or two. Keep on making the vidios , thank you.

I don't have a helper or a reversing camera but I do have air suspension. It does help when hooking up trailers and the Eriba though, but it also doesn't tow it flat either. Always nice to see how others do it as well though ;)

Hi Elwyn, yes I think being able to lower air suspension would make it easier to hitch up if no camera. Thanks for the compliments.

@@whereveraway it certainly has its moments. But it also means that if I’m doing wild camping in any form, I would need to be very careful when putting the legs down or the jockey wheel down when leaving it hooked up. This is because when I get out of the vehicle, after a few minutes or so it drops the rear suspension just a little bit and if the legs are down it’ll put a necessary strain on them

Hi Gary. I usually drop the pop top on our little Pan if the wind is strong.As a vertically challenged family (Ann is 4ft 11ins and I'm 5ft and a fag paper, we can walk around the van with the lid down no problemo.When I say walk around, I mean take 2 strides with our dumpy little legs.... We really enjoyed your video. A happy 2024 to all three of you. Look out for a VW Polo towing an old Eriba Pan on your travels - I will be the one with 30 cars following me!

Thanks Hayden. Catherine doesn't need the roof up either, however on this occasion, and due to the wind noise and side gusts blowing rain, we did put the roof down.

When Towing you need to pull over at least once a day to let stuff past..

We fitted a KARTT ultimate jockey wheel….as we saw the wheel stays were twisted on the original fitting..so we’ll keep the original jockey wheel for when we sell it..

Ah yes, it is important to think about resale when making decisions. We are looking to sell our Eriba now and we will move to something different away from towing.

Eg. If we go for a weekend away, we have Saturday and Sunday. To get a full day out you need to book 2 x nights at a site. So we found ourselves going away early Saturday morning, not arriving on site until early afternoon, setting up, then the day is gone. Oh then there's the next day, the Sunday, which is set down and off site. So we can just do days out for the weekends and do a bit of lunch or evening meal ourselves and not be paying for sites or be governed by their opening and closing times.

We think if it starts flashing and lightening , we’ll jump out of us beds and sleep upright in the car.. But we are thinking of getting some rubber pads for the 4 steadies. ? We do use plastic yellow pads…will they protect us ?

Cost of sites and the midday to midday rule. Looking to be more independent and are considering a VW California Ocean and to be able to use Park4Night and do pub nights out with sleep overs off grid and having the ability to park. Cost of Storage of the Eriba is high. We want our money at our house not in a storage compound. No more towing.

@@whereveraway but you’ll still be using sites and you’ll never fit 3people in a VW Calif.? So will you sell the Landcruiser? That’s two mots insurance etc.. and where will you shower and deposit black water..the NC 500 in Scotland has a lot of problems with van lifers..they are just throwing it into the streams and verges..
@whereveraway
@whereveraway 9 ай бұрын
We will use sites for longer stays but for a 1 night over at a weekend we probably won't. We will buy one of those Thetford flushable toilets. The Landcruiser will go and the VW will be our main family vehicle. That way I get a new vehicle with guarantees and a camper all in one. If our William has a friend we can all go camping and they can stay in the 6 man tent. Back seats forward you can fit a lot of gear in the back of the VW.

Hi Jackie, yes we are selling Beatrice. We will do day trips for the time being, with a spot of camping, as we have all the camping gear. Next year we will be looking at a new VW Camper California, which is more suitable for off grid and away from sites and can be used for weekends away and as a family car too. We will continue with the videos throughout that journey.
