New York, as a strong, intelligent, and thriving city as lost much of its reputation. The litmus test for all these things comes when you don’t have control not when you do. New York, like California and Chicago had skated by on a reputation that precedes their capabilities of coping. NYC is still my favorite city in the world to visit. It has a bad rep from many people that have never even BEEN there. I also think that NYCers are among the friendliest people in the USA. I got lost there a few years ago on a business trip, & this nice couple actually walked me to my destination. They are also easy to engage in conversation with strangers, which I don't find in many large cities I travel to. Like all major cities, the virus has created some chaos, but I think their new Mayor has what it takes to reverse this. The first thing that should be done is to stop the "Catch and Release" law that was enacted a couple of years ago in NYC & other major cities, where criminals are arrested, booked, & immediately released to commit other crimes on the SAME DAY day that they were arrested. This is a ridiculous law that has been primarily responsible for the uptick in crimes in our country.

He said he will promise to make the city better everyday. It has been 12 months almost and it has gotten worse. Crime rate is still high and more shootings throughout the city and surrounding boroughs even during the day. Robberies are at an all time high. Trash all over the place. Rats everywhere. Mentally ill everywhere. The city lets landlords raise rents to such heights that even a good paying job is not enough to cover all of one's expenses. I see what is going to happen. Wealthy foreigners are continuing to come over and buy businesses and land and create a space only for them and everyone else must eventually leave or become wealthy by using the same dubious tactics that most of them use to get ahead thus keeping the vicious cycle of the haves and the have nots in play.

I rode the subway system last night. The L and the A line to Columbus Circle. Not one police officer in sight. About 4 turnstile hoppers and 3 homeless people on the train. Adams isn't doing anything to make our city safer!!
