Eric Adams is the Brooklyn Borough President having previously served three terms in the New York State Senate and 22 years in the New York City Police Department. After being diagnosed with
Type 2 diabetes in 2016, he adopted a plant-based diet and successfully reversed his diabetes.
He successfully introduced and passed health promoting legislation and policies such as Meatless Mondays, which is now in effect in all NYC Public Schools, and Intro 238, which required schools to
remove processed meat from their menus. Borough President Adams is working hard to ensure that all Brooklynites predisposed to or suffering from diabetes are given the same opportunity he had to restore health through lifestyle medicine and healthy eating.
